Touristy but thoroughly enjoyable - after all we are tourists ourselves!, Great location for exploring the Alsace wine route. Some beautiful villages within easy car rides and excellent restaurants in Colmar itself.Guest review byMauriceUnited Kingdom - 8.0
We stayed for two days.
We stayed for two days. The old city center is beautiful, but outside of this, I've never seen so many shady people lurking around. Went to a store one street away from the old city square, and the salesperson was behind a glass wall that also had bars covering it. Nearby, I was filming the beautiful architecture, and someone yelled to stop filming in that area - again, one street away from the main town square. Didn't encounter problems otherwise, and everyone was very friendly at shops or restaurants.Guest review byHulubasRomania - 6.0

I am French so I was happy to stay in France while visiting Basel. Because of the poor experience we had in the apartment, we moved to another one in Switzerland. We found a very charming village with beautiful architecture and nature around. Switzerland must have been wealthier than this part of France for a long time and it shows.Guest review byFRANCKUnited States - 10.0
This is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages...
This is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages in the Alsace wine region. It can be busy during the day at peak season as it is on the Wine Route and gets a lot of day visitors. Staying here means that you get to experience it in the mornings and evenings when it is generally fairly quiet and you can really enjoy the surroundings and the handful of local restaurants and cafes. For us, that was one of the best reasons to stay here. It is also a great location for days out around the region, to Basle in Switzerland (40 minutes by car) and also across the Rhine into Germany (30-40 minutes by car) being fairly central. From the UK, it is easy and fairly quick to get to with Eurostar into Strasbourg or cheap flights to Basle Airport then local transport.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of...
Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of the wine-growing region of Alsace. Very touristy during the daytime, but the crowds thin out considerably in the evening, leaving the storks in peace with those discerning enough to have booked somewhere to stay in the village itself. Eating out is expensive and the quality is mediocre. Nobody needs to try hard here, because the location is stunning and people will keep coming back even when service is poor. Some spectacular castle ruins are hiking distance from the village. The picturesque city of Colmar is within easy reach. The historic village of Turckheim is worth visiting when the town watchman does his nightly rounds of the walls, wishing all the sleeping inhabitants a "guati Nacht" in the Alsacien language.Guest review byThe Language SecretGermany - 10.0
This is such a picturesque town with lovely people.
This is such a picturesque town with lovely people. The wine! Fantastic. Things don't really open before 10. But the municipal spirit is exemplary. Each business puts great effort into its appearance and shows lovely civic pride.Guest review byEndaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The young Woman Chloe was very nice and charming, she took me to the airport with the shuttle and she even took my heavy suitcase. I had only one night there and my flight was at 7.00 in the morning. Breakfast buffet was ready at 4.30, when I came downstairs, so it was possible to have coffee and to eat something.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Munster is a nice town with lots of interesting places to visit. Of course this attracts many tourists, therefore avoid going there on the weekend. A good point to start is at the tourist information where you will find brochures in different languages and very friendly staff patiently explaining everything you ask them. If you want to buy presents or maybe also for yourself, make sure to check out the wines they sell there as well as the sweet macarons offered in the shops of the shopping street.Guest review byStefanGermany - 8.0

One of the nicest things about this exquisite town is that you can find your own corner, away from the big groups, of tourists on the little tourist, trains. Yes, you’re a tourist too, but you can explore a little differently, stroll though the beautiful park outside the hotel, find brilliant tucked away historic areas, lovely restaurants with a unique flair, offering something other than the admittedly delicious flammenkuche/tarte flambée (which are well worth a try). A tour of the Route de vins (small group. Not big bus) is a highlight: the independent wineries are superb. It’s perfect for solo travel because people were so natural, welcoming and friendly.Guest review byCarolineUnited States - 8.0
Gracious, helpful, storekeepers and staff, and just random...
Gracious, helpful, storekeepers and staff, and just random people on the street. A simple, smiling, "Bonjour" goes a long way. Take a moment to appreciate how good everyday life in France can be, in just the simple things. Grand older buildings among the new, somehow fitting together in a mosaic of possibility and potential. A random mural adorning a wall. The tapestry of a city that people actually live in, going about their day. Grabbing a fresh baguette, some amazing cheese... Visit the car museum. The train museum. Base yourself in Mulhouse and take side trips to Colmar, or Freiburg. Possibilities abound,Guest review byCollinUnited States
