Lovely little hotel in quiet Grandtully. We enjoyed the food and stay at this small inn, and walked one afternoon along the river bank to the next town as well as visited (the outside at least - as it was closed until 2 PM) the nearby Menzies Castle.

Excellent site. The pod was perfect with a fridge, kettle and microwave. Site was immaculate. The toilet block and shower rooms were very well kept. There are loads of activities on and off site for families or individuals do do. We were sorry that we were only staying one night. This site is so good that a longer stay is warranted to see and do everything.

This little gem in the middle of Scotland ❤️ the rooms are just as you would imagine, cosy, clean and with the small town feel. There is a restaurant and a pub with very attentive staff. Aviemore is a great base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, beautiful scenery and easy access to walking trails and nearby attractions. The town has several good restaurants and cafés, making it a pleasant stop on a Highlands road trip. One night was just right for us, but outdoor enthusiasts could easily spend several days here.

Ballater is a beautiful small town with an interesting array of shops and amenities. There are several pubs in the town which provide excellent eating experiences. The Rothesay Station Cafe is a must-visit along with the Clachan Grill. The central park area is well maintained and there are plenty of benches when you need somewhere to sit and admire the scenery.

A neat town, in a good central position to travel out to other areas for walking and to Speyside distilleries, but private transport is recommended for this, although we did see a couple of buses. There are a couple of 'personable pubs' who provide cheap meals, but we found healthy food a little hard to come by! The Co op was very handy and central, for buying anything you needed. The walk from the town centre to the Spey river through the pinewoods was cleearly marked, accessible and pretty and only takes 15 minute or so. The museum offers information on the town's history and provides 'walk Grantown' information.

The hotel provided what we needed. We had a dog, who stayed in our vehicle overnight, but it was easy to park near an exit to manage her needs. She could have stayed in the hotel, but the car was easier as she was familiar with it. Breakfast was comprehensive and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

Nestled amongst the mountains with paths and tracks leading all over what’s not to like? Sadly, the general facilities here have gone. No shop for example. One place did have a sign out for coffee, but there could be an opportunity here for someone. Worth climbing up the Cateran Trail heading south to get stunning views looking down on the village. Also visit the stone circle, old bridge and the church. Just soak up the atmosphere!

Braemar is ideally situated for its many outdoor pursuits in stunning scenery which is often the draw of the area. That along with it's Royal connections which are hard to miss! The village itself is small with a Highland feel and home to many beautiful and historic buildings. The shops and pubs in the village are more than adequate for a short stay and this is a great place to base yourself if working or just exploring the area. This is certainly the quieter twin of the nearby and just as nice Ballater.

There are a few routes to walk to Kincraig, using the cycle/walking route. The Old Post Office Cafe Gallery sells absolutely wonderful food - I can highly recommend the soup with a cheese scone. Just make sure you look at the opening times as it's not open every day. The only downside is that there's nowhere to buy general provisions in Kincraig, for this you need to head into Kingussie, which is an 8 minute drive away as the cycle/walking path unfortunately doesn't go that far
