A well thought through recent refurbishment with an attention to detail. Amazing standard of comfort. The best quality accommodation we have experienced on a month trip around UK. We also stayed in the Walpole room for 2 nights and unlike previous reviewer we had no issue with noise from downstairs or outside. Rather we enjoyed looking out to green fields and stunning sunsets. Dinner was absolutely lovely too. Recommend without hesitation.

FAQs about hotels in Norfolk

A Rural Retreat for Royalty

Sleepy and agricultural, Norfolk has peaceful villages and deserted beaches that provide a relaxing country escape. Its riverside county town Norwich has historic buildings and a popular market dominated by a cathedral. It also houses several luxury Norfolk hotels on Booking.com.

East are the Norfolk Broads, tranquil waterways that pass by small villages, windmills and verdant countryside. Further east Great Yarmouth, with its Pleasure Beach, is one of the most popular Norfolk seaside resorts. Other beaches are at Cromer, whose pier has a theatre at the end, and Hunstanton, home to a Sea Life centre and a range of North Norfolk hotels. Between them are Wells-Next-the-Sea where wetlands continue to Blakeney, popular for birdwatching.

Also on the coast is Sheringham from where a steam train runs to inland Holt. Swaffham to the south-west is a small market town and surrounding it are some of the Norfolk country houses offering accommodation. Thetford to the south has a riverside park and is by Thetford Forest, site of a Go Ape high ropes course. Snetterton Racetrack is midway between there and Attleborough.

A speedway track is located in historic King’s Lynn, another market town whose wide river means that it also acts as a port. To the north-west Dersingham neighbours Sandringham, whose country house is a private residence of the Queen.

One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed in. We had a top floor room facing the beautiful green and heard the chimes of the church bells. The bed was so comfortable and there was a separate TV seating area next to the bathroom with tea/coffee/ biscuits/mini bar. Excellent choice of breakfast and we ate in the pub dining area in the evening. The hotel also has a residents lounge area, gym and a cinema offering complimentary popcorn .. which is great for kids. The staff were all very friendly and helpful including the man on reception who carried my luggage up to our room. We would definitely stay there again!

The room had a view on the pier and beach, we loved it. It was spacious and very bright, absolutely delightful. The breakfast was typical English style and very rich. The staff was amazingly kind and helpful: they let us keep the bags in the reception before check in and after check out. I honestly think there is no better place to stay in Cromer if you have children.

We were in Great Yarmouth for the second time, one of the reasons being the huge and long sandy beach and the fact that the tides are short, we didn't have to run after the water at low tide or from the water at high tide. We have read about the decline of this resort over time and I really feel sorry for it, but the fact that many hotels and almost all attractions are still operating makes us believe that there is still hope that someone, someday, will have the financial strength to make it shiny and profitable again. However, we were not necessarily looking for attractions but nature, which we found in abundance.

Such a wonderful place, clean, friendly and the food available is great. Try the Cliftonville Hotel for its superb menu. No 1 restaurant is always a favourite. You must try the coffee at Norfolk coffee company on the promenade. The piers shows are a must see and not forgetting Cromer crab it's so fresh.

We have visited several times and always enjoy it. The museums are very good, informative and well displayed. Lots of good places to eat - Bank House, Marriot's Warehouse. We like the globe and mitre pub with the glazed room on the back. We also had a good light lunch at the Dukes Head - cool room and quiet. Kings Lynn is easy to navigate. The paved street in the centre are pleasing, too.

We walked up beach road to the beach cafe.

We walked up beach road to the beach cafe. From there to Holkham along the beautiful beach to the lookout cafe and came back through the trees. It is an excellent circular walk with cafe / toilets either end and plenty of benches along the woodland path (not along the beach). The woodland walk is a good path and would suit most with buggies etc and offers places to rest. Beach Road is long but again there are plenty of benches along the lower path and lots to look at with birds and boats.

An interesting town with a history that was worth learning about. Good central position for exploring East Anglia. Its a shame that so many shops are closed or closing, which gives a sad feeling to what ought to be a busy and thriving place. Tall Orders is a lovely café serving good coffee, and the Steam museum is really good, and also has a nice café.
