Take a Guatemala City and Antigua City tour with guide to maximize your experience. I particularly remember the colorful craft market in Antigua. Wish I could have stayed longer. Prices were low, selection high and without side by side vendors, one can look around without pressure.
I’m from Alexandria, VA and Guatemala City was amazing and enjoyed the food and location of many restaurants and shops. This specific apartment help me feel safe and secured during my whole trip. See you soon😊. Thanks, Joe
The people of Guatemala seem happy and caring whether in your hotel or out on the streets or in the market place. We had just come from Belize and we saw a big difference. I will stay longer here next time and explore more of this welcoming country.
Guatemala is a beautiful country with landscapes and very interesting native people with a unique ancestral culture. I recommend to discover this adventure by yourselves
Little gem not yet found by tourists. We felt safe and traveled extensively and had an amazing time. Have a feeling for the trials these people have for every day e instance. They work so hard to survive every day. Thank you guatemala
Guatemala is beautiful. With little children we did travel with car seats and rented a car. Which I think is a must to travel around. Atitlán was beautiful. Antigua was too. The only thing is that to get there it might be a bit of a culture shock. There is a lot of traffic and at times a bit scary. But you forget all of that once you get to your destination. People are very friendly in the small towns and really nothing to fear. In the city things might be a bit different. But people are still just as lovely. There is a lot too see with little ones.
Guatemala is an amazing country. I was worried because I read all about the crime, but I never once felt for a moment that I wasn't safe. Flores, Tikal, Antigua, Lake Atitlan are a must. And I have to say, I've been to many places around the world, and Guatemalans are by far the sweetest, most generous, and kind people on the planet - hands down. Everyone should go there to learn how humans should interact with each other and we will have a better world.
Thriving city with unusually balmy weather for the season. Difficult to grt prople in public sector motivated to work the week prior to Easter. Zones 9 and are safe but avoid walking around at night alone, as in any large city. Taxis are inexpensive but do negotiate prior to climbing in. If ever lost, guatemalan will go out of their wsy to help. The national theatre is an architectural masterpiece. Zacapa XO rhum, world class!
Guatemala is a great country to visit! The culture, history and rich scenery is definitely worth the trip. If you are thinking of going on the sunrise tour to Tikal, be aware the morning cloud cover half the year make this extra effort for not. Although, getting through the site during the morning hours is the most comfortable. Once the full sun hits at noon, the heavy walking and climbing becomes quite difficult. In Petén, try Cool Beans for breakfast or lunch. We loved the view.
Guatemala is an amazing place. Its scenery is amazing. If you've never seen a volcano, and there are several in Guatemala, it's not to be missed. Antigua is a magical city.
Zona 13, Guatemala
Just stayed to sleep the night on arrival in Guatemala City and Guatefriends couldn’t have made it any easier for us! After passing customs I contacted the Hostal and 5 minutes later a car arrived to pick us up. They also send you a lot of information before to help you when you arrive at the airport as the city is not the safest place. The staff were super helpful and friendly, the included breakfast was great too and both the shower and sink had hot water. Lovely terrace and drinking water available. Comfy, quiet and clean.
I am writing this review for my mother, Ana Montenegro. My mother returned from her trip in Guatemala very happy and telling me that her experience at the InterContinental hotel was very nice. My mother expressed to me that everyone, from the front desk (Kurt) to the nice young man that cleaned her room and the staff in the restaurant, were all very polite and took the time to answer her questions or service her requests. She stated that she will definitely return to your hotel the next time that she travels to Guatemala.
A hotel that exceeded our expectations. It has a great location in Historical Center. If you get your car, it has private parking at no extra cost. Employees are really kind. The rooms were clean, with comfortable beds. In general, the hotel has a vintage-old vibe. You can take great pics inside the hotel! It has great gardens and resting areas. Definitely, I will book again if I return to Guatemala. Bathrooms are clean, and warm/cold water is provided. Checkin and checkout processes were really smooth and fast.
Great service attitude. Clean and comfortable rooms. Great location. They took care of our stay as if was our home. I can not complement more. Best service ever in all my trips. They really go the extra mile. My wife left ear phones at a hotel in Peten, that hotel Isla de Flores shipped it to Hotel San Carlos to be paid by the destination. They paid it and kept it for us so we could pay and pick it up. That is what I call service. We will stay there every time we travel to Guatemala city in the future.
Zona 4, Guatemala
The place offer great value for the price and location in the city, can't be beated by any other accomodation right now. The breakfast was better than expected, the fresh fruit and pancakes were good. The place has just what is needed for the traveler to rest and keep your stuff safe in lockers. A big patio and parking space for a couple of vehicules. Christian and Alex from the staff are always willing to help. Thanks for the hosting during my stay of 5 days in Guatemala City.
Very Impressed with Hotel Clarion in Guatemala City. Located in Zone 10 (best district) Filtered drinking water in the rooms, Comfortable beds, Great crew. The sidewalks in this district look like Jade tiles. Great restaurant with good food and drink selection. The breakfast is located in a jungle setting with draping vines, tropical plants, Rock caves and and a waterfall. Best place to stay in Guatemala City. 5 stars.
I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Ajau. I think the location is great as it is only a few streets away from the Guatemala's Historic District and Avenida 6, where there are multiple shops and places to eat. Its a good budget friendly hotel with really welcoming staff. I would definitely stay here again if I was to return to Guatemala City. The hotel has a bed, TV, Wifi, shower and a restroom. Good enough for me.
Zona 13, Guatemala
We had a great stay at Oh Espana, it was a last minute booking as we had unexpected travel issues so had to stay an extra night in Guatemala City. The owner was so kind and helpful in helping us get on our way to Antigua the next day. Great breakfast in the morning and very comfortable and quiet rooms with free water for drinking. Would definitely recommend.
confortable, clean, spacious and the staff is amazing especially Sharon who help us finding a restaurant, manage with them to stay open later for us and book us a taxi as we arrived late and everything was closed for the Easter weekend! thank you again Sharon to allow us to eat but also to have a last adventure on our next day in Guatemala
The location can be reached by foot from Guatemala City airport, lthough we were collected by a member of staff at 22:00 which was included in the rate. The breakfast was generous and catered for our needs as non meat eaters. The staff were helpful and went above their duties to make our stay comfortable.
Zona 7, Guatemala

We had a layover in guatemala city and booked for somewhere to get a few hours sleep. Hotel was very close to the airport and the hotel organised taxis for us which meant it was very hassle free. We only stayed a few hours but it was perfect for what we needed
Zona 13, Guatemala
The hotel was lovely and they kindly arranged a very early shuttle to the airport for us. The area is residential and peaceful. There is a great place to eat next door - local Guatemalan food - ask at reception and they’ll call the owner as he isn’t always open.
Zona 1, Guatemala
The property was charming, as was their hospitality. While you're only about 5 minutes from La Sexta avenue, I actually enjoyed staying in the room and on the patio. The property itself was my favorite part of Guatemala City.
Nice and clean hotel, about a 5 minute drive to the airport. If you come to Guatemala and are looking to book a hotel I 100% recommend this one! The breakfast included with rooms was a breakfast buffet with lots of options. .
Zona 13, Guatemala
