Tucked away in one of the most beautiful locations in the north of India (Uttarakhand), this is one of those hidden gems which will keep you coming back for more. Here are some of the points that make Faraway cottages a must visit : 1) The View: If you are a person that appreciates true natural beauty like myself, you will get to feast your eyes on majestic unobstructed 360 degree views of the himalayas all around you. And no amount of this will ever be enough. It leaves a last impression on you and the sense of amazement stays with you every time you look around. There are also sprawling views of fields and farms below. 2) The Food: We went in with no expectation about the food at a cottage, as we tend to mostly explore the restaurants in the area to experience local culture. Not here. The unassuming cozy restaurant offers some seriously good dishes which will have you licking your fingers after every meal. It has to be something to do with the water in the area, but EVERY SINGLE MEAL was DELICIOUS. So much so that I met with the chef and made sure he felt my appreciation. 3) The People: The hospitality of the Pahadi(mountain people) is well known, and is exemplified at this this location. Such kind, welcoming and warm people - this I felt was truly the best part of visiting Uttarakhand in general but in particular this cottage. I wanted to specifically mention Naval Kishore, the manager - always made sure we felt at home and tended to our every need Our server, who treated us like royalty every time we came for a meal. You are truly made to feel special.

The owner was a very humble and courteous man. He ensured we were picked up from bus stand and ensured our safety untill we were dropped back to bus stand . Hot water was available. And all our requests were met with with smiles, made the stay memorable.

Though the front view may not immediately impress, once you step inside, you're greeted with a serene, cozy atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. The interiors are thoughtfully designed, clean, and radiate a homely vibe, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The homestay is run by an Ex-Defense personnel, whose cooperative and warm nature adds to the overall experience. The location by the river adds a peaceful, natural beauty that truly enhances the stay, with the gentle sound of the flowing Alaknanda always in the background. If you're looking for a perfect place to stay with family after or before your visit to Badrinath then you should consider this place. P. S - For the dog lovers, they also have 2 German Shepherd named Romeo and Juliet.

    The temple is awesome and hence very crowded. It is a good idea to have prior registration. One should do the Rishi Ganga and Charan Paduka trek above the temple which is directly in the path of Mount Neelkanth

    OM KUTIR IS NOT A HOTEL. IT IS ONLY A ROOM PROVIDED IN BADRINATH DHAM. THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY FACILITY EXCEPT A ROOM WITH DITRY SLELL AND NOTHING IN THE ROOM. THEY DO NOT HAVE CUP WITH PLATE.     We visited in March, when the Yatra season has not begun.

    We visited in March, when the Yatra season has not begun. There was a lot of snow around Joshimath. Auli was full of snow and skiing was still ON. The ski chair-lift from Auli to No. 8 is a thrilling ride and offers mindblowing views. View of Nandadevi, Dronagiri, Hathi-Ghoda-Palki peaks from No. 8 is astounding. Joshimath was also an uplifting spiritual place. Adi Shankaracharya's Mut and Narsingh temple were extremely peaceful and set in a beautiful location. Cable car ride to No. 8 starts from Joshimath, which offers astounding views of the mountains too. There are numerous hikes near Auli and Joshimath. Tapovan hot water springs are an hours drive away.

    It. Is a very long journey and the roads are not very comfortable at all places . I think each state has their own temples like Badrinath for Vishnu and for lord shiva . Those temples are also quite sacred and as powerful as Badrinath. It is not worth crowding there and taking this long journey rather be satisfied and visit the temples at our home towns . Definitely a thing to be thought . Becos government cannot make everything and also that everything is made commercial too which has lost the spiritual charm . Money works for VIP Darshana and pandits there do all this money making buissness . It’s time to come tha chat dham devastanam board run totally by govt .
