It is more practical to stay in La Spezia especially if you have luggages to drag along - in CInque Terre, stairs, narrow steps and steep slopes are really challenging to do with baggage. There are wider range of options of food in La Spezia, and considerably cheaper than the ones in Cinque Terre. It is also so convenient to travel from La Spezia to the towns of Cinque Terre.Guest review bySue AnnAustralia - 10.0

We visited all 5 villages and Monterosso was by far the best place to stay . The tourist office in Monterosso suggested a walk cause it was easier . None of the walks are easy especially in summer heat ! Most are advanced I would say with many stepsGuest review byMarkAustralia - 10.0
Levanto had the best beach in Cinque Terre by far.
Levanto had the best beach in Cinque Terre by far. We went to all the other Cinque Terre villages (Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore), and Levanto had the only sandy beach. It was very clear, the beach as well as the water, not as crowded as the other towns, more space for people and bigger free beaches. Besides that, no other Cinque Terre beach has sand. They either have big rocks or small pebbles, which are difficult to walk on, except for Levanto, where you can confortably walk barefoot. Levanto also has a place from which you can free dive into deep waters (the port), like in Vernazza. I reccommend eating at Aggio&Persa - it has the highest reviews (4.9), very cheap food, they sell per grams, not portion (a portion of lasagna here is 6-7€, while at other places it's 14€), and it has a variety of freshly cooked meals right in front of you - both homey and local.Guest review byAndreeaRomania - 10.0
The best on the Cinque Terre villages in our opinion.
The best on the Cinque Terre villages in our opinion. Plenty of restaurants to choose from or takeways to sit in the harbour and eat plus bars. No cover charges like the other resorts we visited. Great atmosphere. The Cinque Terre is overpriced in general not just for food/drink but also the tourist tax/ train tickets/ walking trails etc. but as long as you know this it is a lovely place so you need to tick the area off your listGuest review byCaroline - 10.0
We loved the quaintness of vernazza.
We loved the quaintness of vernazza. No cars etc around.we had 5nights and wandered to all villages.the little supermarket is very small and hours not the greatest but plenty of places to eat.during day may be busy but morning and late afternoons were fabulous.there were free concerts on too in the square which were delightful.cann enjoy takeaways on the rocks with beautiful viewsGuest review byCatherineNew Zealand - 8.0

Portovenere is a perfect place to stay, if looking for a quieter place but similar scenery to Cinque Terre. Lots of things to do from hiking, boat trips to other resorts and well connected to La Spezia by local bus.Guest review byJeanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
3 nights was enough to see Manarola a lot.
3 nights was enough to see Manarola a lot. We swam, had dinner nightly, met the locals in the wine bar just above the church and visited 2 other towns. Our hotel room was at the very top of the town, and then up 3 flights of stairs. It was a very steep hill. Be sure you know where your hotel is, it's a very vertical town.Guest review byLilyannUnited States - 10.0

Quaint little town with easy access to other Cinque Terre towns. Great hiking. 34 flights of stairs from train to town so maybe not a good place if you don’t do stairs. We really liked the town but it isn’t the place if you’re looking for a party scene.Guest review byRichmondUnited States - 10.0

Deiva Marina is a nice smaller town by the sea, which is very clean. The town lays in the valley surrounding by green mountains. There is an excellent train connection through coast, you can comfortably go to Cinque Terre, La Spezia, Portofino, Genoa.Guest review byRadkaCzech Republic
