Facing the Ligurian Sea, NH La Spezia offers rooms with free WiFi, and an on-site restaurant. Beautiful and the breakfast was perfect. The only issue are the showers. The tub is narrow with a slippery rounded bottom. My husband fell in the shower. We were told that they are renovating and changing the shower situation. Safety issue now.

It offers functional rooms with modern furniture. location was perfect for me, just a few steps from the railway staion, and within very short walk of the main part of La Spezia. Breakfasts were very good, although it would have been nice to have some yogurts. The hotel staff were great. My room was a good size for a single. Hotel Birillo is 0.6 mi from La Spezia Centrale Train Station and a 10-minute walk from the harbor and Gulf of La Spezia. It offers free Wi-Fi in the lobby. The rooms are compact and simply furnished.... I usually ask for a lower floor if there isn't an elevator, but I forgot this time. My room was originally on the 2nd floor (3rd, US), but a room as available on the 1st floor (2nd, US) the next day. They helped me move to my new room. In addition, the breakfast buffet was excellent - baked goods (in house), meats, cheeses, yogurts, cereals, eggs, juices. The staff was exceedingly nice and friendly!

Many families visiting La Spezia loved staying at Le Ville Relais, Hotel Nella, and Hotel Corallo.
Didn’t go into La Spezia other than driving through, but Portovenere which was the closest little town was very nice. Good restaurants, tourist shops and small supermarkets. Half hour walk downhill from property, walk back a bit more testing.
I don't think La Spezia is very special, but it's a good affordable option to visit Cinque Terre. That's why I decided to sleep there. And it's very easy to reach other parts of Italy by train if you are in La Spezia. When I visit Cinque Terre again I would surely consider to go to La Spezia again.
La Spezia is the perfect gateway city for the 5 Terres. Trains depart every 10-15 minutes from the main train station and travel 2-4 minutes between village stops. Boat tours take your around the main 5 Terres cities with a leisurely two hour boat trip. great food and walking/hiking in the area. Enough to do for at full week!
We spent two nights in La Spezia in order to visit Cinque Terre. But the city is really cute and has some nice restaurants and places to see (specially at night). The only "problem" is that the pubs normally close at 2AM maximum.
Our third trip to the region. If you've never explored Cinque Terre you must visit. The villages are best viewed from the vantage point of the water so take the frequent train (4 euro will take you anywhere in the region) to one of the northernmost villages (Monterosso or Vernazza) and take the hourly boat back to Riomaggiore. La Spezia itself has a buzzing nightlife. The Main Street which winds itself down from the train station is full of diners in the evening. If you want a family beach holiday you may be disappointed. The beaches are more pebbles and rocks rather than sand and each beach is 90% private so if you're not prepared to pay you'll find yourself crammed into an overcrowded corner.
It's a small town that is easily to get around walking. Plenty of restaurants and shops. The promenade along the water is just beautiful. I highly recommend taking the boat shuttle to the other villages.

I liked everything: Patricia is lovely and explained everything to us on arrival. she waited for us for a long time as we were delayed and even though her son was in hospital. She was in touch with us through WhatsApp and advised as on trips, restaurants etc. The apartment has got everything you need and more. It is beautifully decorated, It was great. The location is incredible, right by the sea that you access from the property and down some stairs carved on the rock. you can also go to the beach , about 300 metres from the property. the swimming pool is lovely. there are restaurants very close, within walking distance. the views from the property are breathtaking . and if you have children they have tables and chairs for the little ones and toys. Patricia has thought in every single detail you can imagine to make your stay perfect.

gorgeously maintained property. owner take a lot of pride in land, flowers, upkeep: obvious!!! room was larger than most on our travels in Italy and the bathroom was gigantic. this room had a jacuzzi tub , altho we only used it without all the power. super clean. comfy bed. other room rented by family. no complaints there either. easy walk to a local pizza place, great food. owner called a taxi for us the a.m. we left , as our train station was not the Centrale. way exceeded expectations and value can not be surpassed!!!
