La Spezia itself was a lovely town. I did walk around on the first day but as I was so busy going to the Cinque Terre villages in the end I felt I could have spent a whole day exploring La Spezia itself
a big city with nice alleys and a port. Staying in la Spezia gives you the possibility to visit Cinque Terre and other places close by and also have a good and cheaper stay compare to taking an stay in Cinque Terre.
It was very hard to get a taxi in La Spezia. We were in need of a taxi twice and both times we called were told there were none available. We decided to ride the bus, which was also a bit of a challenge to figure out. The town is a bit dead. Maybe the month of May is not the right time to go there or maybe the town is still recovering from pandemic times. We did happen upon a very nice restaurant called Carpe Diem. Great staff, great food and nice atmosphere. Would consider visiting La Spezia again just for that restaurant.
A busy town with lots of local bars/restuarants & shops, possibly missed out by travellers wanting to be closure to Cinque Terre. Great little market, good transport links & can be surprisingly busy on a Friday & Saturday evening with plenty of locals milling about.
A lot of people don't realise that chica terra is a region not just one town there are 5 towns connected by very winding roads but there is a great rail service that connects them all and it runs between them about every 15 min . There is a local pasta you must try pasta with pesto .
Stayed in La Spezia while visiting Cinque Terre, so did not get to see much of it. Area near the train station was busy and a bit noisy but felt safe and vibrant. Pedestrian street near-by, full of cafes and restaurants.
La Spezia
Everything was perfect! The location in the very centre, the room (bright, tidy, stylish), the reception. The host Christina was extremely nice - has sent all the instructions and recommendations (La spezia, parking, eating out, breakfast, Cinque Terre etc) via whatsapp, she stayed connected during whole our stay. Anything we needed - she will help, from table booking to places to eat in Florence -any-thing! The service level you would not see much an in Italy! Very-very pleasant! And she is a great personality just to chat with :) Gratzie!
La Spezia
Convenient location to both the train station and the pedestrian areas with restaurants, shops and bars. The room was clean and fully functional with everything you would want in a guest room. The host was quick to meet me at the building entrance and was very nice and helpful. It’s not a five-star hotel nor is it trying to be. Just an excellent value-for-money place that you’ll be happy to stay at.
La Spezia
La Pietra was the perfect mini vacation during my month in Italy. I stayed for one night, enjoying every second of the breathtaking view. The room was spacious and cozy, even smelled amazing. My favorite part was the patio and green space, overlooking the coast of La Spezia. Be sure to check out the maps, itinerary, and guest journal for activity ideas. La Pietra is a must stay while in La Spezia!
Very convenient location to visit Cinque Terre: the hotel is just in front to La Spezia train station. Clean and comfortable room. Excelent breakfast with a variety of local products. Very kind staff at the reception and breakfast. Thanks to Marco for the good tips about parking, restaurants and sightseeing!
La Spezia
Beautiful location, outside the city centre but in walking distance from the train station. Very diverse breakfast, better than in some hotels. Balcony with view on the city of La Spezia. Warm and enthusiastic host, gave good advice about visiting Cinque Terre and the most beautiful walking trails.
Great little room, quite small but perfectly located in the heart of la Spezia. Perfect for catching a train or ferry to Cinque Terre, both is 10min by foot. Very comfortable and clean, not a hotel but more like a flat in which you boom a room. Very easy checkin and out, perfect for a night
La Spezia
Everything was absolutely exceptional from the moment I arrived at the Millstone House. The staff went above and beyond to make sure the stay was comfortable, beyond anything I’ve seen even at ritzy 5 star hotels. Breakfast was also fantastic and the rooms were very clean and comfortable.
La Spezia
We were two families sharing three rooms. Not a traditional hotell, more like independent rooms in a corridor. Clean and a lot of space. Small elevator but it worked out fine. Air condition and wifi was OK. Close to railway station. La Spezia itself was not a very interesting town.
La Spezia

La Spezia
Hotel located in center of La Spezia - just 10-15 miutes walking to the train station, similar to the port. Located in side street, so there are no noices from the street. Owner recomended us a some restaurants and places to visit.
The Hotel was close to main train station but the the area was not very nice as there were noise from outside at 6 am so we were waken by the noise. But the hotel was basic but comfortable. Very good pizza in hotel restaurant.
