This is just a wonderful place.
This is just a wonderful place. We were there in August which should be high season but it wasn't too crowded. You of course have to have some tourism so that restaurants and shopping will thrive and for us this is just the perfect balance. Not too many people "in your way" but still enough to have a variety of restaurants, shops and all sorts of services. We will 100% be returning to Ischia... most likely more than once and more than twice.Guest review byGunnar GeirIceland - 10.0

Depending on the time of year Procida is a little haven with unique, picture book views … very unspoilt and not overdeveloped!!! However, there are a lot of steps to climb up from the little port and to some of the beaches so go prepared!! All in all, having eaten out at most of the restaurants, we had delicious, fresh fish and no disappointing meals … staff were very friendly and the service was good. Finally, the best time to go here would be early or late summer … far more restful and relaxing 😎Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0
No parking.
No parking. Many steps to get to the piazza and port and not pedestrian safe. Not geared to tourists. Shops for local consumption mostly. Ok for a day or two but traffic in and out is terrible and not a good base for exploring the area. I found the restaurants good but expensive.Guest review byAndreaUnited States - 6.0

Almost only Italians are in Bacoli, very few international tourists, which makes it a special experience. You can just relax and enjoy the sea at several beaches, many of which are free, like Spiaggia del Poggio and Lido Schiacchetiello. There's quite a large supermarket on Via Roma with lots of nice local cheese, meat and fruits & veggies. Everything within Bacoli is walking distance. We used public transport to get there and around, EAV buses run mostly on schedule to reach for instance, Pozzuoli. Pozzuoli may be a better choice to stay if you want to discover the Roman ruins and the islands. There are some things to see and do in Bacoli as well, like visiting the Castle with amazing Roman sculptures and the Piscina Mirabilis is also interesting to see.Guest review byBarbaraHungary - 6.0

I used to live here for 2 years.
I used to live here for 2 years. I like how it is more peaceful than Naples. The restaurants have very good food, especially the pizza a la lenio. I love the markets you have called mercantinos. I love the beaches as well. I don’t like the massive amount of traffic around 10am on Sundays. That’s only in the summer though. All in all I love lago patria.Guest review byIreneMexico - 4.0

We loved the owners of the hotel that we stayed at but as for the town it was a dump with all due respect! It was way out of Naples and access to the beach is impossible without a car, not much affordable transport options in Italy. I would not return to Varcaturo and probably not Italy for that matter. This experience has put us off! The owners of our hotel are the only reason we would consider returning to Italy due to there warm hospitality but sadly wouldn’t stay there again solely due to the location.Guest review byAlanahAustralia - 6.0
Visiting Ischai with a car was challenging.
Visiting Ischai with a car was challenging. We pre booked the Ferry but still needed to exchange our reservation for a ticket. We struggled to locate the ticket office at the port and we couldn't get a ticket for both crossings and was only issued a ticket for the single journey so we needed to locate the ticket office both in our outbound and inbound journey which was a pain. Reversing the car onto the car ferry was also challenging. The Island is a little grubby, the architecture is in poor repair and the roads are challenging. Some of the people were friendly but in general we found the people a little rude and ignorant. Driving was also quite challenging with other drivers being very aggressive. The beaches were a little hit and miss. The beaches in the towns were busy and crowded with locals, if you moved out beyond towns you can find less crowded beaches but with basic facilities. The Island is very hilly and it was too difficult to walk anywhere we needed a car but you can hire scooters very easily on the Island. The food options were very good with Excellent Pizza - We recommend Bar Franco in Lacco Amenco it was one of the highlights our our trip - we went back twice in 4 days.Guest review byAndyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It's a beautiful island. Quiet. Small.
It's a beautiful island. Quiet. Small. Lovely views, restaurants and people. You DO need to be able to walk and climb lots of steps. There are eBikes for hire, scooters and cars, but the streets are tiny and best walked. A great place to unwind. You can also hire boats or book boat trips. Great for sailing.Guest review bySimon J C TuckerUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We loved to visit the Greek/Roman sites at Pozzuoli, Baia ,Bacoli and Cuma which were almost empty of tourists. There were a variety of restaurants within walking distance from the property, but it was easy to travel to Pozzuoli by public transport where the restaurants on the front are superb.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom
