We stayed for 1 night at Hote Metropolitan Kawasaki when we arrived in Tokyo. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room is spacious by Japanese standards. Even the toilet and bath has so much room for our stuff and do not feel cramped at all. Breakfast was included in our rate. The breakfast spread was more than enough and we loved everything - eggs, bacons, sausage, cereals, soup, salad... it has everything and more. I truly believe we got our money's worth. Even the staff - couldn't say anything negative, they were accommodating and helpful.

it was not a common experience in Asia, that when you send your room requests for a famous hotel and they apologised to you for not able to fully satisfying you, and then asking you to probably consider an alternative hotel. Most hotels, would reply you that they will try their best. Majority would try, but they won’t do their best. Who would spend so much effort on a customer who would only spend one night! But Hotel new grand was different from the rest. The team definitely tried their best, from the start of my booking, till I waved goodbye. The room reservation team, Sakiko, was always honest and found time to elaborate on my room choices, the pros and cons of staying in her hotel, as she simply worried that their historic hotel would be too old for my liking. The lobby manager, Mr Tanaka, accompanied me during my checkin and checkout, showed me my room, assured me that everything was checked, and reconfirmed with me whether the room was to my liking. When I mentioned a minor issue during checkout that the in-room clock having a ticking sound, he quickly recorded down in his notes. The rest was memory, of the window view, of the running water that fills a bathtub within few minutes, of squeaky clean room, of staff and doorman who greeted u everytime you stepped out or went in the hotel, of their signature napolitan pasta and Seafood Doria. Thank you, Hotel new grand for making me fall in love with you, and Yokohama.

The hotel was quiet and elegant in every way. I loved all of the automatic sliding doors and the modern, clean aesthetics. Service is great They provide extra amenities such as towels, cups and yukata on the next day even though i didn't ask for it. The tv system interface is exceptional. You will get all kinds of information regarding hotel facilities, check in/out time, video on demand (I like this VOD stuff 😉) and also all tv programs across Japan. You wanna extend your check out time? No problem, just use the tv remote and click to extend by hours (1000yen/hour). You just need to pay during check out later. EASY!

Our rooms were amazing and the beds were really comfortable. The room size wasn't too small either. We had 3 people per room, and we were able to still open our luggages comfortably. The public bath was great, definitely helped cure the fatigue that came from a lot of walking. The staff was very nice and assisted us with every question and requests we had! The hotel was also surrounded by a lot of convenience stores (Seven Eleven, Lawson and Family Mart) so take your pick!

This is a little old school in a nice way, the building has quite a bit of history, but is fantastic, an amazing place to stay for two or 3 nights right on the lake. The service was exceptionally good and the room size represented the largest we stayed in for a 2 week trip to Japan. There are 2 restaurants a French one and a Japanese one. We ate at the French one which was exceptionally good with fantastic service. Check out time is also 12 noon, which can be useful.

If you enjoy transportation adventures, Hakone is the place for you! In one day with the Free Pass you can take the mountain train from Hakone-Yumoto up to the funicular (which they call a cable car) and then there are two cable cars (they call them ropeways) that you take up to smokin' (literally) Mt. Hakone and then down to the lake and from there you can take a ship across and if you like roller coaster rides, take the K bus back to Hakone--11 switch backs at breakneck speed! There are also onsen nearby and lots of tourist shops with a variety of local specialties. Really fun and highly recommended! Oh, and if you like art, definitely pit stop at the Open Air museum. V. kid-friendly and also great to explore for a couple hours or a whole day if you can spare it!

We were attending a event in Kawasaki so that is why we stayed there. We didn't really do much sight-seeing in Kawasaki. If you are planning to do a trip to Hakone, I think it is smarter to stay in Odawara than in Hakone-Yamoto. Odawara is a small town, but it has bars, restaurants, and is much more alive at night. Yes, you lose 20-30 min daily for your Hakone trip, but it is compensated with a wider variety of restaurants and bars. Also, the Castle is impressive, and the beach is relaxing!

The entire hotel is clean and offers good, delicious breakfast. Room was clean. Comfort room is kinda small but clean. Everything is excellent for me except the bed and pillows are not so soft.. because I was expecting a very soft pillows and bed but aside from that I enjoyed staying there. Atsugi is a lovely smaller town & I was fortunate to be there during their festival weekend, fireworks included. The people are incredible friendly & helpful. If you hire a car & able to drive up into the mountains well worth it.
