This hotel is excellent. Spotless clean, friendly staff, you can rent bike for free (they have 6) and it turned out the best way to explore Kyoto (first come first serve basis). Absolutely amazing lobby/chill out area with free soft drinks and some pastry 24/7.

The hotel is right next to Higashi-honganji Temple (ひがしほんがんじ), close the Kyoto Train Station, almost walking distance, relatively convenient traffic connections. Very nice architectural and interior design with a court yard, included a Zen Garden. The facilities are excellent, enjoyed the swimming pool and sauna. Friendly staff. The breakfast is a spoil, too many choices and I wish I had better appetite.

What a delightful, cozy, warm hotel with such friendly staff. Every moment of our stay (on honeymoon) was perfect. The hotel is in a peaceful, quaint location where we felt like locals. The staff were so helpful and pleasant, and the complimentary drinks in the lounge every evening were such a sweet bonus! We can't wait to come back! :)

Great hotel with a modern taste. Large first floor with galleries of expositions. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast (buffet with a mix of Western/Japanese tastes). We had a small room but we found it extremely functional though we were travelling with large backpacks: space and shelves, small wardrobe and hooks. The position is very convenient: 7-min walk to the closest metro station (Jujo) from where you can reach the most interesting areas. Excellent value for money!

The location was very good for someone who’s traveling by Shinkansen between cities. You can walk to the main station - we took a cab. It’s very close and not expensive at all. If you like to walk, it’s a great place to stay. They provide free sake and wine to guests who’d like to relax and the entire ambiance is really nice. Very relaxing and nice for a city hotel mixed with one with ryokan vibes but still modern.

Very friendly staff. Its a small boutique hotel, around 10min Walk to the Kyoto station or 5min walk to the metro station. It was clean and stylishly furnished. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom rather small (no separate toilet) but was ok for me. It was a lovely stay.

Such an interesting city with so much history.

Such an interesting city with so much history. Loved walking along the river. We had a picnic there one day. Fantastic shopping and food. The Botanical Gardens are incredibly beautiful, would love to visit them again in a different season. Transportation is easy to follow and clearly marked in English.

Beautiful surroundings, not many tourists, cable cars to both sides of the water bridge were great, I went on a hike on one (although they want you to pay for the bus, it was a bit much, so I walked to the temple). I walked across the water bridge about 3 times, great walk, and a great solo trip even for women alone. I recommend it. I did also one day trip to boat villgae Inu - amazing. Recommend to go on the boat with locals.

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical...

Kameoka is the starting point of the famous and historical Hozu River rafting ride that takes you to Arashiyama, home of the famous bamboo forest. Enjoy the rafting, enjoy Arashiyama and take the train back to Kameoka. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station. A perfect day.

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean! The only confusion was that the description on Booking.com states that breakfast is available, it doesn’t say that you pay extra for it. I also paid for towels. If I understand correctly the coat is then deducted from the room fee but it really wasn’t clear.

An amazing city that we visited for 7 x nights during cherry blossom season 2026 (7 x nights was still too short!). The eastern section of the city (Gion prefecture?) has numerous temples that were built right next to each other, and each has its own personality, and these are worth exploring over a couple of days. So much amazing history. It's a bucket list but do your research before going and try not to add to the overtourism plague; choose a time of year that it is not packed and research times of the day to visit certain sites such as Arashiyama's Bamboo Grove when it is not full of the selfie obsessed.

We did not know what to expect.

We did not know what to expect. Our visit was in December so it was pretty quiet. We had rain the first day but we were able to do most of the highlights on day 2. We walked the entire beach path had lunch and walked it back. Very nice walk.

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas.

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.

Excellent place with a lot of history.

Excellent place with a lot of history. Kyoto represents the rich culture of Japan. Top rated public infrastructure. Super safe. Well staffed tourist attractions. The staff are reasonably good at English and extremely courteous. Osaka is well connected to major cities in Asia and California.
