One of 181 reviews:
"After seeing many castles, shrines and temples in other parts of Japan, the Kawagoe versions were nice, but not that spectacular. Candy Lane was quite unique with narrow streets, old building architecture, but the shop offerings were generally pitched at the tourist rather than celebrating the originality of the district and its genuine traditions passed from older Edo times. We stayed three days - but on day 3 we took a short train ride to Omiya station and the short shuttle service to the Saitama Railway Museum for a day very well spent. Highly recommended for families with young children with many suitable activities and mini-train rides. Take care with the shuttle ticketing - it is easy to buy an expensive "day pass" ticket that does not work in the gate, when there are cheaper tickets for the same ride that do."

The breakfast was good. The hotel is located right outside the Wakoshi station which is hugely convenient for travellers. Convenience stores, Starbucks, restaurants, clothing stores and whatnot are all in close vicinity to the hotel which gives you everything you want at your fingertips. The English speaking and friendly staff made everything a lot easier.

Manager was super friendly, professional and helpful. He explained how to use the facility with great detail and enthusiasm. The place was truly nestled in nature surrounded by beautiful hills and little chirping birds…loved being able to make fire in outdoor wood stove and grill outside on the charcoal bbq…so fun and relaxing… I went in winter and they have proper heating inside the cabin, electricity, hot shower in cabin, hair dryer, kettle and even TV! Vending machines are also there!

The building is wonderful, the staff so friendly, from being picked up at Hanno station (30 minute drive) to the receptionists and the servers, everyone is so attentive and respectful and nice. Free beer in the lounge is a winner. The baths while not huge are clean and hot, just as I love it. The food is exquisitely good. I would highly recommend Taishikaku

This is a great place to visit if you are a bit adventurist and want to experience life in Japan away from Tokyo and other typical tourist locations. Just brush up on your basic Japanese language as English is not spoken in most places. But, if you travel there by the local trains from Narita all train stops are given in Japanese and English. Also, many establishments do not accept credit cards so be sure to carry some Yen with you!

Misato is an interesting and different area, Originally a quiet countryside area near to Tokyo, the Tsukuba Express line has caused it to start to grow in to a commuter friendly town. However, it still balances the quiet charm with all of the supermarkets and restaurants that have popped up around the station. If you want fresh air and a local feel, but also with quick access to Tokyo and large supermarkets and stores available too, it draws a perfect balance. The locals are very relaxed and pleasant suburban folks as well!

I headed out to Wako from Tachikawa station via Chuo line. I used Google for train directions. It was detailed so I got lost on what stop to get off at. Then transfer directions were not specific for me. I probably will use JR train directions the next time. Luckily I ask a local where I was headed and told what stop to get off at. Then I ask 2 teenagers to help me find my to Wakoshi station. Very friendly people! Without them I wouldn’t make to my destination. 😆
