"A compact town that's really easy to get around by Grab car, with a wonderful mix of old and new places and eateries. I especially liked the rejuvenation of some parts of Old Town, with old building converted into modern shops with a sensitive and light touch. Kong Heng Square, and Books Xcess are 2 places we liked for the sensitivity seen in restoration. Locals are super friendly and eager to recommend their favourite eats! While some parts are touristy, at no time did we feel that it was bordering on the zealous hard sell that we would encounter at similar spots elsewhere in the country."

"Lumut beautiful naval town with good Hotels and restaurants. Lot of shopping outlets for souvenirs and anchovies and other dried sea foodstuff. Sitiawan less than 5 km away, good place for Chinese and Indian restaurants. Not much choice in Lumut, mostly Malay and Indian Muslim restaurants. Good nice place to stay, quiet and relaxing. The Lumut jetty takes you to Pangkor island, half an hour journey. Our group made a 1 day trip to Pangkor, we took the 9am ferry and returned at 3pm. On the island we paid RM100 for a round the trip tour of the island for the 7 of us (adults). We started at 10 am and finished off with lunch at a good Chinese restaurant on the island at 1pm. Lumut has a good walking area called the Lumut Waterfront which is lighted and spacious with ideal spots for picnic and family get together."

One of 143 reviews:
"Seri Iskandar is sort of a mixed bag. It is a town with a lot of modern-looking architecture and services, but there are also the more rural aspects of the town which puts a lot of contrast. For example, there is the sleek design of a Starbucks restaurant next to a large bus stop that is in a poor state. In addition, Grab services can be difficult for transportation, especially to Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) itself. The food is okay, but there are overpriced modern-looking cafes that I do not recommend going to."

I felt very comfortable at Manhattan Hotel. The staff is very friendly, with a special shoutout to the gentleman who is taking care of the breakfast. Very sociable and friendly. Also the room was nice; nothing too fancy, but everything you need, including a fridge and a closet to hang your clothes. When I asked for a few extra coathangers it was no problem and delivered soon. There're lots of places to eat around the Hotel and about 15 minutes walking there's a huge Aeon Mall. I had a great time. Thank you so much.

Food, glorious food!

Food, glorious food! It's a culinary paradise, with the best food in Malaysia found here; as well as in all the small towns within a 1-hour drive radius. Special mention must be made of the river seafood at Lenggong and Sauk; as well as the big-head prawns in Tanjong Tuallang. Also plenty of drinking places to quiet and classy wine bars, particularly Jeff's Cellar - a bar in a cave; to the many Speakeasy bars around town.

There was absolutely nothing to do or see in Lumut, we were there during Ramadan, so there may be more than 2 eating options at other times. We had stayed there on the way to Pangkor, after getting a bus from KL, it would have been easy to just get the ferry when we arrived.

Beautiful place with all the culture and heritage assets. Very authentic and unique. Eg the palace, masjid Ubudiah, Lembah , Sg Perak view, the food, sayong handicraft, tekad , Victoria Bridge, historical buildings, the nations education hub and still maintaing the rural areas. The whole environment of a medium range city is just nice... not too busy , calm and easy to move around. A little out from Kuala Kangsar is the Lenggong World Heritage Site. Its a combination of culture , heritage, nature and also the education hub. Its like a living museum.

Love the colonial style buildings, and you can walk to many places. The parade mall has much to offer incl. midnight screening of latest movie.

For those staying at Teluk Nipah,

For those staying at Teluk Nipah, 1) Beach-wise: There are plenty of trees on the right side of the beach, so you may enjoy swimming covered by the branched-out trees. The sunset is exquisite. On weekend nights, the fire show is just down the beach in front of the duty-free shop. 2) Food choice: Quite limited for breakfast/lunch, but so much happening from late evening-night as there are many street food stalls and restaurants to choose from. We personally enjoyed the cekodok pisang & cucur bilis in front of the Nipah Water Front Beach Resort. 3) For those renting a car, there's a limited parking space along the road, and is on a first come-first serve basis. For additional info, the road from town to Teluk Nipah has been closed for quite sometime now.. so you would need to use the alternative winding road which is a bit challenging but only takes about 15-20 minutes ride. Renting a car is around RM70-RM120/day depends on the car type. Disliked: 1) The street food price is on a higher side here, maybe due to its location as a popular tourist spot. 2) The council shall also provide more trash bins here and place them strategically along the road.
