The rooms were big and comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly. They offer free breakfast and snacks from 1-5. The kids really enjoyed the pool and kid’s play area. It was close to the train station. I highly recommend it if you have a car or plan to taxi around because there isn’t much around the resort itself.

Love the location! Very close to the transit terminal that will get you everywhere. Walking distance to two night markets and many local eateries. And the ocean is only a pleasant 15 minute walk away. The staff is excellent and most helpful. The buffet breakfast is varied and tasty. Has a vegetarian section too. The rooms are on the small side, but we don't spend much time in it. The shower is great! Which is necessary after long days of walking/touring!!

    First impression was that the hotel was really old because of the dated design, but actually, everything is really clean and new. The room size was good and bathroom was huge, but without bathtub. Instead there is a massage shower panel. There is an outer glass door for each room so sound insulation was really great. There were 8 washers and 8 dryers and detergent provided (completely free) and staff helped to restart the dryer in case it was not completely dry and you have not collected your laundry. Snacks, tea and coffee and ice-cream was provided in the lounge for free. The tea bags provided is from a really famous tea company in Taiwan, and there are about 8 different teas to choose from. Breakfast and supper provided was good quality and really tasty, tasted better than a lot of food sold outside. The tea eggs was especially good, better than the famous one in Sun Moon Lake. The food was so good that on the 2nd night, we deliberately had a very light dinner so we can enjoy the supper fully. Service standard really surpassed our expectations. I smelled smoke one night on my floor and alerted the front desk, and it was taken care of immediately. Staff working at the restaurant was very helpful and knowledgable and helped with food recommendations.

    We stayed 7 nights while visiting family. The ambiance of the hotel was perfect. The staff were awesome and it smelled lovely, like a spa. The rooms were big, bedding and pillows amazing quality, and we especially loved the bath robes to wear. We used the bikes a lot, and Taitung has lots of bike paths. We did not eat at the hotel.

    The spa was very relaxing and clean, the staff very helpful and friendly (they helped us a lot with rebooking next trips because of a typhoon), the lobby with free snacks is a plus and the restaurant serves fresh food.     Unfortunately we visited off season and it seems that most things are shut so we found it a bit depressing. If we returned it would be later in the year when we could visit the off shore islands. We also had wet weather but discovered the National Prehistory Museum which is a taxi ride outside the city but one of the best museums we have visited. It was so good we went twice because we did not have enough time to see everything on our first visit. It is also a very good museum for children. Cycling all round on the cycle trails for the day was an excellent activity and there was plenty to see.

    The two of us couldn't ride a motorcycle so we had to rent a driver, which was expensive (4500 twd for 1 day) but it saves you from riding near the cliffs/ in the dark at night. We went during the low season and the bus seemed unavailable (and we haven't seen one anywhere during our two-day stay). Would recommend visiting during summer (before October) to avoid the monsoon. Overall it s beautiful albeit somewhat touristy

    Fabulous town. The lake area is so beautiful to walk around. Also hire bicycles and electric carts to explore the area around the lake. Lots of great photo ops. Fabulous scenery. Great sculptures. Toilet stops. The town has plenty of places and variety of places to eat. Plenty of places to stay to suit all pockets. A quiet town, restful. Able to relax but plenty to see.

    Lots of places to eat.

    Lots of places to eat. The fish restaurants a tad expensive though. Some good local food at small cafes. Some good coffee shops. Harbour could do with a face lift but it is a working harbour. The park and beach area lovely to walk around and relax watching the waves crash. The 8 arch bridge area lovely.

    This is a scenic valley running back into mountainous old growth forests. Ubiquitous hot springs, plentiful wildlife, and national park with a variety of hiking trails. Easy access by bus from Zhiben station.

    Small city. Train station is not downtown. From train station possibility to take bus to downtown approximately 20 minutes drive to bus station. Frequent busses. City is only worth stopping if you plan a trip to the 2 islands nearby.

    I stayed 2 nights in Chishang and it was exactly what I was looking for - a peaceful rest, in a beautiful location, an easy train ride from Taipei. There were very few European tourists and not much English spoken, but people were very friendly and keen to help and communicate. There are heaps of bike and buggy rental places. I hired a bike overnight so could ride along the cycling routes before and after the busiest tourist times. Even when there were lots of people riding around, they mostly stayed on Mr Brown Avenue and the other paths were pretty empty. I stayed a bit out of town, so a bike also made it easy to get to restaurants, shops, etc.

    Great swim in warm Pacific across the street was an unexpected bonus Host was very pleasant and communicated with Google translate. Drove us to Chenggong for dinner and picked us up for a fee. Mama Song is where he took us and it was very good. Served delicious breakfast and coffee. Room and facilities were excellent. On a noisy main road but we slept well with double curtains and thick windows - and did not need earplugs provided.

    Taitung is beautiful and filled with many interesting places to explore and relax in. The beach is amazing, although the days I was there I couldn't fully enjoy the beach as there was a storm surge from an approaching typhoon, but nevertheless, it was beautiful. The surrounding hills are perfect for hiking, the food is great, and the people are amazing. I loved it there.
