We visited Troy University for my graduation. There were a lot of restaurants and a six screen movie theater on Troy Highway. Other than that, I didn’t see much else there. Most people go to Montgomery, Alabama if they want to do something fun. I plan on going back when my son graduates from there or if there is an alumni event for me to attend.
Took my son to see the USS Alabama and USS Drum and with this being his 1st time, he loved it. All he could say was "this is epic" over and over. Not sure what that means with kids these days but he enjoyed it.
Our reason for staying at Birmingham was because our 17 year old daughter had a tour of the University of Alabama where she hopes to attend. We stayed in Birmingham because the hotels is Tuscaloosa were booked.
Great location. Close to New Orleans. Awesome seafood, close to the USS Alabama memorial. Locals we're great. Had to have work done on vehicle. Expected high price but was treated fairly at DJ's Auto service.
Tuscaloosa is an excellent place to visit. It was my very first trip but it will not be my last. The Bryant Denny Stadium was amazing. I mostly enjoyed just riding through the campus at University of Alabama
Had a very relaxing night and went to the USS Alabama the next day. Beautiful old homes from the 1800's with trees so BIG the home owners have spot lights on them at night. Everyone of us enjoyed the beauty of it all.
A lot to see and do. If you are a music lover, Florence / Muscle Schoals has a lot of music history. From recording studios to Alabama music museum. Close to NAU.
The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is a treasure! Everyone should see a show there. We also saw some amazing exhibits at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
Tuscaloosa is my favorite city. I have been visiting for over 10 years now - it began when I was 12! The rich history and traditions within this city are comparable to none. Once you visit once, you can’t wait to go back! The University of Alabama campus is a must-see. The landmarks and stories surrounding many of the buildings tell the tale of that special place.
Loved: Dolphin tour (bring snacks/drinks) The beach was beautiful Souvenir shop on gulf shores pkwy has a neat photo op (has giant shark in front, shark inside and huge pirate ship on the back of the building) Very close to lots of shopping/restaurants/activities/ groceries) Lazy river Ate at cactus cantina👍 Franco’s Italian Restaurant 👎 Longhorn steakhouse 👍 Mini golf was cute Very family friendly USA ALABAMA battleship tour in Mobile, Al was worth the drive Disliked: Beach umbrella/chairs and parking not included
Gulf Shores
Best location on Alabama Coast. Inside a beautiful state park with an awesome beach and 28 miles of bike trails through the inland side of the park. Best dinner of the week was at Perch, the Hilton’s upscale restaurant. And the best breakfast was at Woodside and FoodCraft which are also on the property. The rooms in the Hilton are very nice, clean and quiet. Awesome views from either side of the hotel. The entire state property (lodging, concessions, etc.) is managed by Valor Hospitality and they are doing a fantastic job.
Very kind and welcoming staff. The property is also very beautiful and historic. Great location to all that downtown Birmingham has to offer. Good food and cute shops. We were in town for a NYE concert, so this was just a few short blocks walk away from the Alabama Theater. It was also very quiet. Not sure if it was the side our room was on, but for New Years Eve we expected to hear a lot of outside noise. But to be fair, downtown in general was dead and you could eerily hear a pin drop.
It’s a beautiful property. I loved everything about it. I’ve stayed in many Hotel I Diego properties and they are all very different looking. They design it with local flavor which makes each hotel unique and homey. They are very chic and modern. I have never had a bad experience at one of their hotels and I’ve stayed in many in California and this one in Alabama. Great views form the hotel.
My partner and I stayed at 3 hotels between Alabama and Missouri in the last 5 days and this was BY FAR the best hotel. The shower pressure and height was comfortable, the bed was soft and the blankets just thick enough. They offered a blow dryer in the room which made it easier to shower so late in the evening. Plus we arrived at 10 p.m. and the staff was still friendly and accomodating
Loved that the entire hotel was nice and clean. Also had a good, pleasant, and clean smell. The location was pretty nice. Quiet area - close to the highway. Near the University of South Alabama. Quite a few restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner. The breakfast was excellent - my sons and I thoroughly enjoyed it - definitely the best breakfast experience we’ve had at a hotel in years.
Didn't care for the breakfast biscuits but the coffee, juice and everything else was good. The lady taking care of breakfast was very friendly and helpful. I wish I had found this place a few years when we were traveling to Homewood, Alabama on a regular basis. Unfortunately this was probably our last trip there but I will make sure to let everyone else know about this hotel.
My stay was very pleasant. The facilities were spotless, the staff was nice and welcoming, the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful and the food was great. This was the best hospitality I have ever received in a hotel and this was my first trip to Alabama. Drury hotel really made me feel at home.
Loved everything.I celebrated my 60th birthday there .. best time. Loved the lawn chairs in pool with the water spraying over you. Staff were so nice...loved our trip!! One of the best hotels...oh the music at pool everyday...awesome!! Thank you for the best 60TH bd in SWEET HOME ALABAMA!!!
Mobile
Beautiful old in. Of course it’s not perfect but that adds to the charm. Not your typical chain hotel or motel but with a historic twist and situated in historical area in Mobile Alabama. Highly recommended if you don’t want your typical Chain Hotel and like The charms of yesteryear.
Mobile
The ambiance of the hotel is absolutely amazing. From the very beginning, we were met with great hospitality and assurance that we chose the right place to stay for our visit to Mobile, Alabama. The rooms were beautifully designed and the breakfast was delicious.
Location was perfect for Barber Motorsports Park which is why we were in Alabama. Was able to choose own room online prior to arrival. Digital key worked perfectly. Breakfast was adequate for the current COVID situation. Hotel very clean.
I made the reservations to attend my 50th yr. Golden Graduation from Alabama State University. The hotel was located minutes away from the University. The Staff was congenial and very courteous. The complimentary cookies were great!!
I liked the large window and the view of the Alabama River. The room was very nice and comfortable, I just needed more light. One lamp didn't work. Overall, the hotel is very swanky and stylish.
Hotel was nice... clean and confortable.... right of interstate and near restaurants.....not a bad option instead of those on 65 when visiting Univ of South Alabama (about 10mins away)
I have stayed at the Hotel Capstone several times before. It is always a phenomenal experience. My son attends the University of Alabama so we often visit him and stay at the Capstone.
Was in town visiting daughter who is going to Univ if Alabama. Hotel was just only about 1 mile from her dorm. Property is new and was very clean.
We was in town for my daughter's College Graduation from Alabama State University. Very convenient location. Lots of places to eat or shop.
The staff were all friendly. The hotel was very clean. My room was spotless! Hotel is about 15 minutes from historic, Montgomery Alabama.
