We booked two villas and two rooms for a family reunion. Every person we interacted with was so kind and helpful and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to accommodate us. The breakfast was delicious and the view was breathtaking. A bonus was the beautiful walking trail amongst proteas and indigenous plants and birds! Rooms and villas had everything we needed and more! Everything was spotless and top quality! Villas were spacious and we had plenty of room for everyone. We had a private swimming pool and jacuzzi and access to a well equipped gym! We always felt safe and we had a wonderful time! Hope to come back!

My brother and I are on the self drive Safari to South Africa, BOTSWANA and NAMIBIA, and this was any port in a storm, what a DELIGHT this port turned out to be. D UPGRADED US FROM SINGLE ROOM TO HIS BEST ROOM FOR NO EXTRA CHARGE. WE WERE THERE IN THE BITTER COLD OF WINTER BUT THIS PLACE WOULD BE FANTASTIC IN THE SUMMER. D IS EXCEPTIONALLY PERSON AND BREAKFAST WAS OUTSTANDING. I COULD NOT SAY ENOUGH EXCELLENT ABOUT THIS PLACE IF I EVER COME BACK THIS WAY, I WILL STAY HERE.
I should add that in the last 10 years I've travelled in Africa almost 20 months, so I speak with some experience

the location was amazing! excellent security and Clifford a night security officer was efficient and super helpful
just a few minutes from gorgeous beaches and excellent shopping. bed comfortable the office staff were extremely helpful. The bathtub was huge and after two months it was a welcome relief to soak my tired body. the grounds are peaceful and a great walking trail.

I lived in Heldervue area for 11 years & moved to...
I lived in Heldervue area for 11 years & moved to Durbanville area in April 2025 due to sale of property & to be nearer to family.
Somerset West is a lovely area & really worth visiting with lots of wine farms & lovely restaurants nearby & Strand Beach & Gordon's Bay also about 10 mins drive away.
The host Liesel was very friendly & accomodating & went out of her way to upgrade my room from a single room to double room due to date change. This made my stay even more amazing. Thanks Liesel.
I really recommend the guest house with a very central location.

It’s an RDP house in a township it was dark and you can not drive over ons u you get to that street it’s a dead end……after we arrived we noticed a black BMW then, we daparted as soon as possible …it also departed ons we moved im sure they are using that house to rob people.

This accommodation has a verry bad neighbourhood! You have to drive to a really unpleasant area to get to the small holdings which are then fenced and secured. But huge warning since at the gate shows how safe the area is😉

Very cute, has some nice shopping centres, nicely located between Cape Town and Stellenbosch, nothing is a far drive. There can be some traffic on week days though, but if you leave earlier in the morning it's fine. Quiet place, easy to drive around or get an uber. Lots of wine farms near by and some great restaurants (trip advisor and google both have good lists for these). Some great hikes that are nearby as well.

It’s a quiet, clean and peaceful place ☺️ The mountain and ocean views are incredibly beautiful. A variety of restaurants in the area. We ate at the Ocean Basket near the Krystal beach hotel where we stayed. The rest of our trip was outside of the Gordon’s Bay Area. Done sightseeing around Cape Town - seapoint and Bo-Kaap, Atlantis dunes. It was a drive away from Gordon’s bay but it was worth it and even better returning to our accommodation at the end of the day as tyr area is so peaceful and beautiful 🙂

We have stayed for a long weekend in Melkbosstrand and for the past 5 years each January in Strand. The area around Strand and the beach is nice, even though it can get very busy - it is a nice place to stay and lots of things to do.

I enjoyed getting to know Gordon’s Bay and the second hand book shop, which understandably draws visitors from miles around.
The mountain, where Manor House is located in Sir Lowry’s Pass, shared many different delights every day including beautiful horses, an Italian vineyard (ahem winery), a steam train complete with cheerful “toot!”
The mountains themselves give the scene an Alpine feel; the urge to sing may be unavoidable.

The city is well laid out and it's easy to find your way.
The city is well laid out and it's easy to find your way. There are some hidden gems which could be better popularised. All the amenities one would need are to be found in Somerset West and it is within easy reach of Cape Town. There are some excellent restaurants and vineyards within easy reach.
