Great place with amazing staff. The walk to the beach is very doable. It looks high but the pathway they created makes it very easy. Beach is simply amazing. The staff also needs mentioning. Amazing service all round.

after driving 5 min through dense forest we arrived at the reception, checked in and then went to the viewing deck which was overlooking a wide open field. The view was overwhelming.. deers, blue wildebeest, Zebras and three gIraffes were grazing in the wide expanse not more than 50m from us. The same 3 giraffes 'blocked' out path when driving the few meters to our bungalow. What an experience! The staff were super helpful. The AC wasn't properly cooking, a repair company was just on the premises and they gave them the order to right away also refill the gas on our AC unit.

It was a wonderful setting in the bush with a great restaurant serving tasty, hearty and well priced meals with friendly staff. We enjoyed the viewing deck and look forward to the completion of the revolving restaurant. The swimming pools and braai area were amazing and we loved seeing the buck on our walks around the lodge. Shannon and Enoch were very helpful and the boat cruise on the lakes was most memorable. The room was spacious and very comfortable.

This is a very well established lodge and everything worked well for us - is well maintained and owners are clearly committed to keeping it going at a high standard. Very friendly staff. It is quite 'down to earth' and does not try to impress with the more gimmicky approaches some places go for. We enjoyed watching the buck and the families of monkeys playing in the grass areas.

St Lucia is truly a beautiful little gem!!

St Lucia is truly a beautiful little gem!! A quaint and quirky town with a great vibe, interesting history, amazing diversity and proudly South African!! One main street with all sorts of interesting little shops and souveniers, easy to get around and safe!! Loved the hippo and croc cruise with Advantage tours, and the self drive through the game reserve to Cape Vidal, a piece of paradise!! Also went for a lovely walk on a nature trail close by which was like walking through a beautiful magical forest, food for the soul!! Wonderful variety of accommoation options and eating spots to choose from, we enjoyed our stay at Turtle Bay Lodge and had great food and excellent service at John Dorys!! The sighting of a hippo walking through the streets of St Lucia was exciting!! Highly recommend this special little town, can't wait to visit again!!(:

ENTRY TO THE PARK IS SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE, THE GAME POPULATION IS HIGH SO YOU GET TO SEE A LOT OF ANIMALS INCLUDING MOST OF THE BIG 5, THE HILLTOP STOP OVER IS PLAESANT FOR A MIDAY BREAK OR LUNCH, TRY ARRIVE WHEN THE GATES OPEN AS THE PARK IS LARGE.

Sodwana is a special place - always has been.

Sodwana is a special place - always has been. Beautiful reefs to scuba and the weather is good most of the time. It is a pity that ISimangaliso is managing this beautiful place into the ground. It is unfortunately not a new thing and has been going on for years.

Mkuze itself is a little dreary however there are game parks...

Mkuze itself is a little dreary however there are game parks aplenty to choose from. We did a game drive in Manyoni which is a quick 30 mins from where we were staying. The Jozini dam is worth a visit, with its abundance of hippos, crocs and birdlife. There isn't anywhere really to eat other than at your accommodation - there is an engen and decent spa and a very good butchers in Mkhuze itself. A good stop off if driving through to Kosi Bay border to Mozam.

There are more areas to visit, forest walk (hiking) forest canyoning with tour guide, forest history, visit 3 miracle lakes, we did fishing, swimming in lakes, I'm still going to visit again soon.

Gate opens too late & closes tooo early for summer season. We ate all meals at the Tembe Elephant Park lodge dining area for all meals. With a self-drive 4x4 - was great as not crowded at all.

Being from London, we loved the ‘Out of Africa’ decor and...

Being from London, we loved the ‘Out of Africa’ decor and experience at 8 Lakeview Cabanas in Saint Lucia where we stayed and were so excited when the hippos walked right past our outdoor veranda area where we were barbecuing one evening…we were so lucky it was a mother hippo and her baby that evening!! We also took a day drive to the nearby National Game Reserve, Hluhluwe, where we saw an abundance of game, including the big five - and a large herd of elephants walked right infront of our car! The Hippo Cruise at Saint Lucia the one afternoon was also a most exceptional experience where we saw countless hippos and also crocs and unique bird life including a hunting fish eagle. We will definitely be back!!

Town is small and only supplies the basics.

Town is small and only supplies the basics. Very little paving in town. We felt a little unsafe visiting the Spar. No restaurants or activities for kids. The park is well worth visiting but ideally with a game viewer and guide as it's very hilly and the roads are in a nad state of repair.

The scenery was good, room not bad, wonderful staff and great breakfast. Boat is a daylight robbery, it's just too expensive and the boat os stationery most of the time we didn't fully explore the dam. The treatment at spa was substandard.
