The receptionist was ready to show me the room before i made payment, very rare gesture for hotels

Lusaka doesn't have much to offer for the typical leisure/tourist traveller. It's a good transit point if you are off on safari or onwards to Livingstone.
Lots of dinning options from middle Eastern to American in the large malls in Lusaka. Shopping is pretty good too with most of the regional chains available at Manda hill, Levy Junction and East Park malls. There are movie theaters with new movies and parks that the little ones can enjoy. There's the Sunday market and lots of local gatherings to keep families occupied. A small town but with a nice pace for families with small children. There's also the opportunity to view wildlife close to the city in places like Chaminuka, Lilayi, etc. Getting around the city requires a taxi or a car, the really brave can try out the mini-buses that are found all over town.
Good for an overnight stay between flights in and out of Lusaka airport. (Note: I was unexpectedly re-routed to the newer, "sister" location after originally booking at Kakwele on Airport Rd.) The lodge and rooms where I statyed felt secure. Airport shuttle service was on-time, efficient and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and responsive. The rooms were clean and quiet. The onsite restaurant and bar provided good service, and the food and drinks were decent and fairly priced. (Glad they have an onsite restaurant because the lodge is not within walking distance of other amenities. Wi-fi internet provided; though a bit slow, it was fine for email and minimal web browsing. Some minor issues on the downside: The pillows on the bed were too thick for me, so I had to roll up one of my sweaters to use as a pillow. My TV feed stopped and started intermittently in the evening -- I'm guessing because the number of users exceeded the bandwidth capacity at peak time(?). Overall: I would recommend the place and will likely stay there again.
If you are a "tourist" traveller, i would´t recommend to stay in Lusaka for long. Lusaka is not the place to visit in Zambia, it's just a city. So land there and get out of there as soon as possible, unless you are doing business there. Most of the people who stay longer in Lusaka are there on business.
My favorite spots were the Malls especially East Park Mall which was nearer where we stayed. Manda Hill is great too. We ate from Apogo Guest House where we stayed. The food was great and we also cooked our own Zambian recipes too. Using a Cab/Taxi one can get around Lusaka easily even though it does get congested during peak hours. There are Buses as well that can be used to get around from one point to the other. Fun activities for families with young kids can include splashing in the swimming pool, perhaps bringing some indoor toys they can play with if it does get too hot to play outside.
Staff at the Lusaka airport lied to us about purchasing a visa. They told us that we could not purchase a multi-entry visa and that it had to be done prior to arrival. However, at other borders, they have told us that it could have been done but that the staff wanted us to spend more for another visa
Lusaka is a beautiful, silent, Clean, nice & well constructed roads (eg. Addis Ababa road around Taj Pamodzi Hotel ) but some roads has no space for peoples to walk on foot, cool & disciplined people, and so on.
Lusaka is difficult getting around without your own transport and taxis are expensive. Not much to see or do as a tourist. Overall the people are friendly and it is relatively safe. I recommend spending your time in Kafue National Park, a 3.5 hour drive west. The park is not very touristy (less polished more raw experience), plenty of animals around Hook Bridge area at night or early morning, and the lodges are nice especially ILA Lodge and Musekese Lodge. Be very weary of elephants in Kafue they can be very aggressive when you stumble upon them.
Busy capital city of Zambia. Unless you are conducting business, there is not too much for a tourist. The National Parks of Zambia are the reason to leave Lusaka. Zambia is a beautiful country, leave the city and go see it.
It has great shopping malls (Levy Junction, east park, Manda hill, makeni mall, arcades and many more) all around the city, good takeaway and eating places (hungry lion, kfc, debonairs, pizza hut, nandos, milky lane, and many others), affordable accommodations (crown palace inn, backpackers, pamodzi, southern sun, lusaka hotep, zamcom lodge etc), a number of historic monuments (freedom statue, lusaka museum, etc), cinemas are there at the malls so that you catch up on block buster movies and new releases and easy access to cabs for movement within the city.
In general is good clean and welcoming
Everything about Lilayi was exceptional. The rooms were clean and comfortable , the food was fresh and on point, Kudos to the chef!
The bed was wide and very comfortable. The bathroom was so big with a lot of unused space. The mixer in the bathroom needs replacing with modern type.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The hospitality is the best.
Loved having a dip in the beautiful pool; the dinner was delicious!! Everyone was very helpful and kind.
The balcony was not very clean. The room had everything I needed
Very nice the staff was excellent . Very helpful and kind hearted . They made you feel at home .
What an excellent place. Everything was very good from the check in to the check out. Plenty of pools, grounds to explore, good food, the room was spacious and clean and with all facilities needed. Good value for money, good staff, easy parking, well maintained environment, generators assist full time when there is load shedding but it/they must be well hidden because you can't hear them at all. The lodge is on the road that heads south from Lusaka and is in an ideal place for that section of the capital. If though you want or need to regularly head to the east, it may take some time depending on traffic.
It’s beautiful! Love the gardens and pool area and the meals were delicious!
The staff were all fantastic and they respect clients
