Lived up to its name, Sunset Colors. The location was idyllic and the resort lovely. Our beach front hut was lovely. The beach was not really great for swimming, nonetheless there was enough island hopping, swimming and snorkeling activities available. The food at the resort was good and it was enjoyable eating our meals on the beach. The host, Luis, was excellent. He was likeable, easy to deal with, and when a mistake in the booking was made on his part, he owned up to it, which was refreshing. He also proved to be very accommodating.

The "haven" in the resort's name is there for purpose. A hidden paradise accessible better by boat gives this place a really island-like feeling and caring and sensible staff makes the place feel like home. We stayed there 6 nights and had really tough time convincing ourselves to get out of there to the city bustle of El Nido. The Mariejoy family cooks amazing meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Philippines traditional specialties as well as more European cuisine. There are three major entertainments in Mariejoy: island hopping tour, kayak rent (free of charge for guests) and, of course, beach and jungles around. We've enjoyed all three to the max, while kayaking, managed to see starfish field and 3 turtles and never got even slightly bored, more to that, we didn't have time to take pictures everywhere we wanted. There are options to borrow items you may need but haven't thought of taking them with you, like coral shoes, beach towels for the trip, at the reception. You can eat at neighbouring resorts, but there's no shop (sunscreen, etc.). Read the resort limitations when booking!!! Prices as of April 2023 - island hopping tour 1500PHP shared boat, 6000PHP private 1-3ppl, each additional person 1500PHP - 1500PHP for one way boat transfer to/from Port Barton, then van 600-700PHP depending where are you going (Mariejoy can help you organize the journey, ask to reserve second row in the van, more leg space) - breakfast 280 PHP, tea or coffee included in the price, lunch/dinner 300PHP, cocktails at beach bar 150-200PHP "buy 1 get 1"
