Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaI honestly can't think of a negative. This place is worth every penny!
We love this place!!! Lea was wonderful and took us on a tour of all of the features. The room itself is amazing. It was built on the remains on a medieval mill; it has it's own private gardens and sitting area right next to the rushing waters of a salt brine waterway. Classy and beautiful antique decor everywhere! The beds were very comfortable and the room was spotless. We even had a hiccup checking out (our fault) and they were very understanding and worked with us to resolve everything. Would love to stay again!

AustraliaWe were greeted by Lorenzo on arrival to Hallstatt and guided up to this stunning property. Lorenzo took the time to show us around and educate us on the history of his home. He was so pleasant and warm, and it made us feel right at home. The property itself is magnificent. The photos simply don't do it justice. It truly feels like living history. The bathroom is so beautiful, and the beds were some of the comfiest I have slept in whilst being in Europe! The French linen made us want to buy some to take home to Australia! The location was in the centre of the town, close to everything, yet very quiet. We were lucky enough to see some snow before we left, which made Hallstatt look even more magical. We felt very lucky to experience Hallstatt and retire to such a beautiful home each night.

United States of AmericaThe only issue we ran into had nothing to do with Living History. We were in Hallstatt at the end of November which is off season. The town felt deserted. All the shops and museums were closed, and there were very few places open to find food. We ate dinner at a hotel across the square from the apartment, but, when we tried to find breakfast the next morning, every restaurant, including the one in the hotel, was closed. Since we had taken the ferry to Hallstatt, we felt a bit stuck without food. Thankfully, a kabob truck was open by the dock, and we were able to get something to eat. If you visit during off season, understand that, apart from looking at the breathtaking views, there won't be much to do, and you may want to bring some food along.
Living History isn't just a place to stay. It's an experience. How many people can say they've stayed in a medieval mill with an entrance to an ancient salt mine in their bathroom? Everything about this place is magical, and every detail is steeped in history. Even the key to the front door is from the 16th century. The location can't be beat as the apartment is just off the town square where the ferry docks. Lorenzo is such a kind host. He met us in the square and gave us a wonderful tour of the apartment, sharing tidbits and stories about the history behind its walls. The floors in the apartment are heated, as well, which was greatly appreciated during our winter stay. If you're in Hallstatt for a night, don't miss out on this unique adventure!

United States of AmericaThe house is a *little* warm in late September when we stayed (but the air right outside the house was delightfully cool due to the water running down from the mountain). Bring your own breakfast. The cafes are closed in the morning. I tried to buy breakfast at local hotels but was turned away. The town is overrun by *day-time* tourists. (I now understand the recent protests against tourists by local residents.)
The house is historic. The natural stone wall of the bathroom is truly unique. The hotel is located extremely close to the main square, so everything is within a walkable distance (including the nice restaurant that was recommended by the host).

United KingdomAn extra pillow would have been nice. And there were no capsules for the Nespresso machine which was a little disappointing . There was only one supermarket which didn’t sell any capsules and also didn’t really want to buy a whole pack for two nights.
Everything. The apartment was absolutely amazing! So unique. Beautiful bathroom. Just a view steps away from the main Market squareGreat hikes from here too. Pubs/ Restaurants just a view steps away. The host was very helpful and booked us a restaurant which is advisable at busy times. There was a bakery a little walk away with a big choice of breakfast and coffee options. Restaurant Grüner Baum has absolut beautiful views over the lake.

Hong KongIf there is one more rubbish bin in living room, it would be perfect.
Best interior room design I have ever live. The room looks exactly like the photo. And it just 10 sec walk from Hallstatt square but also will not disturb by the noise of crowds in there. The host is very helpful to help in all time.

Hong KongThe pillows are a bit soft for my liking but it’s just personal preference.
Lorenzo kindly came to the property and briefed us about the property and the surrounding area. It was super helpful as we would not have known how to operate the door! The property is beautiful and situated right in the main plaza. It comes with rich history and it’s super cool to stay in such an old (but well renovated and preserved) building. Decor is tasteful and we absolutely loved the bathroom!
