Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

there should be information where to park around the hotel .. we actually did park on the street, but I am not sure whether that was legal :D and we took last place on the street - lucky we!
we had to book something at the last moment to sleep on our way back to Poland, so for one night it was more than just comfortable. bathroom was small but warm and clean. our room was quite big and quiet! we have arrive around 11pm but keys were in the locker

Street parking - but at least there was space!

Parking is very problematic because the street is narrow and one-way. Breakfast is very poor

Opening at 8:00 am seems late. 7:00 am would be more convenient for travelers.

We had 1 night stay only. There is nothing negative to mention during that short stay.
Melk is a small town. A location is perfect, close to everything. Parking was for free during a weekend. Could park literally next to a door. A breakfast was good. Staff is helpful.

Room 9 door handle was falling off. Bed sheets and pillows were not smelling fresh and washed. Room was not so clean. There was no hot water when showering. Restaurant is not very well marked, it is not easy for guests to find it, although it is close.
The location was good, and very silent. Public parking can be paid with EasyPark app (Visa debit card works). Waitress in restaurant was attentive. Heating was good, so as Wifi.

That’s not the most cleanest one. We didn’t have any light in the bathroom.
Very good location. It’s a good choice if you are travelling through. We stayed only one night. Nice breakfast.

If you are a normal size person like myself you will find the bathroom is tight quarters. If you are on the large size good luck.

Staff was friendly and very helpful. She helped with a train reservation and printed up tickets for us. Our room was small and the staff let us know we could change it the next day but it the small room was just fine. Location was wonderful!

Very friendly and helpful owner who was allways cheerful. Breakfast fine. Parking not an issue (there is a back entrance to the pension where you can park (if lucky) otherwise some free parking near river. Easy access to town/abbey.

We didn't expect so many steps to the reception/room area. We managed with help from "S". I was awakened by a man yelling outside our window around 1 or 2:00. Otherwise, quiet. There was no air conditioning. However, our hostess kindly offered a fan to move the air. This was all we really needed. So overall pleasurable stay for one lovely night!
The hostess was exceptional! Her name started with an "S" but I forget her name. She helped us with carrying our luggage up the stairs. She was helpful with getting us connected with WiFi. Her welcoming smile was just what we needed after a long road journey. Thank you.

Unfortunately no AC and the staff could've been a bit friendlier and smiled more, but nothing too bad.
Maybe they have rooms of different qualities judging from the reviews, but our room was modern, pretty, looked like in the pictures and had a big bathroom. Prefect location. Quiet.

The horrible smoke smell we had in our room. The hotel is in the need of a renovation. We disassembled the shower head to be able to take a shower because of the corosion it had. The room was clean but the bathroom was not on the same level.
It was really close to the city center and Melk Abbey. They had a bike storage room that was.locked.overnight.
