Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I paid for a 6 bed rooms and got a 12 bed room. Very loud and people came back partying.
It’s very well located and with all the amenities close by.

Was alright, but the beds weren’t comfortable and there was no air con, bathroom wasn’t really big enough for the amount of people staying there. I also had a bad experience with the man at reception wasn’t very friendly, I understand they were stressed but was unnecessarily rude to me and other guests.

It's a cheap, but it wasn't the cleanest place.
Location is great, right next to Bondi Beach. They also have equipment that you can borrow/rent to take to the beach. If you are a solo traveller who wants to meet people, I imagine this is a good place.

affordable - it was a one night stay, at short notice, right before xmas. its been a while since i've stayed in a backpackers hostel, and I really appreciated not being 'aged out' as a 54 yo traveller. it was a fun :-).

That the rooms did not come with lockers to secure my personal belongings. I was taking a risk when I left my valuables in my room when I went to the beach. A simple fix would be to provide large steel lockers under the bed and we can use our own locks.
Excellent location and value for money! The staff are pretty friendly too.

Considering the democratics of the guests is mostly young backpackers coming for working holiday it is hard for the owner to keep up with the cleaning.
The welcoming personnel is very caring and friendly and tries his best to manage the guests and make the stay enjoyable. The location is great very close to the beach and snorkeling gear is available for borrow from the backpacker hostel.

Rooms are cramped and packed full with bunk beds, no space at all for luggage storage in the room, hardly any plug sockets/none by the beds. Showers flooded floor/poor drainage.

$100 of key deposit was charged without notification, then they take $1 per night during time spending there.
It’s close to bondi beach, staff friendly and great place to meet backpackers.

The carpet of the room stinks and it's too old. It was also a bit sticky. The walls need a refresh as well, it seems that those things just stay there for ages. Someone left a plate with cutlery into the room for 2 days, there were empty bottles of beers. It's not a dirty place, but need to pay attention in those details.
The location is very good. Really close to the beach, coffee shops, markets. The location is the best in Bondi. The kitchen is clean and you don't have to wash the dishes, just pans!! That was awesome!! Alex from reception was very kind and really helpful all the time. Beds, maitres and towels are fine. Bathrooms are usually clean.

Its a bit older property and some things might not work as you would expect, be sure to talk to the staff if there is any issue, they seemed to be attentive to any issues or suggestions. For the price, still great.
