Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBathrooms (the most important part of a hostel) were filthy, dirt, hair on the floor, I told the guy on reception who didn't seem to care. The next day they still hadn't been cleaned. The area is about 10 min walk from the historic centre, it didn't feel unsafe but didn't feel safe either.
The design of the hostel is amazing - though it's more of a guesthouse than a hostel these days, you can tell it used to be the no.1 in Manaus until Local opened, a younger hipper place. Room was fine, breakfast good.

ColombiaI guess as every hostel it depends a lot with whom one shares the room with, and thats not the hostels fault so nothing. If you want more privacy I suggest reserving the 1-2 person room!
The architecture and space , the energy of the hostel is very welcoming.

FinlandI wish they had more information available about what to do in Manaus. They have a tour agency that sells tours but I would have appreciated low budget tips. Cold showers only.
Beautiful hostel about 10 min walk from the theater square. Good breakfast and friendly staff. I was able to leave my luggage to the hostel during my Amazonas trip without extra charge. There is filtered drinking water in the kitchen.

Germanythe neighbourhood was okay, not much around and at night I didnt feel too safe in all of manaus, but nothing the hostel can do about that.
the relaxed vibe, great for a nights stop, big lockers for storage when in the jungle, could hang in the common spaces on the comfortable couches till my late night flight, beautiful breakfast views on the roof. great communication ahead of time, especially as I arrived at 1.30 am as a solo female traveler, I felt like they were helpful and attentive waiting for me and communicating on WhatsApp since I landed!

United StatesNice hostel. Good breakfast. AC in rooms 6pm-9am. Could not get wifi in the room so had to deal with no AC and mosquitos in common area but open air top floor worked well if you use bug repellent. Hostel is very nice but no restaurants or supermarkets in near area, there are small lunch and small merchant grocers with limited selection. Was warned by a local to hide my phone when I exited the hostel one day.

United KingdomReally clean. Good sized room with brilliant social areas. Location was great and the staff were amazing. Only thing I didn't like was the showers were cold and the bed was very firm, but the bed is just personal preference and you can't please everyone with that! I would definitely stay again.

United Kingdom- Small complaint, but our room has a window leading into a corridor area that did not have a curtain, so there was a certain lack of privacy - The whole house is partly open, which makes it very pleasant, but should be noted that means there are constant mosquitoes in all shared areas.
- Beautiful hostel in an old house covered in original Amazonian art, really charming and unique - Good basic hostel facilities, including a filly equipped kitchen, and handy laundry sinks - Bathrooms were shared but there were plenty of bathrooms and showers so we had to never had to wait. - Breakfast was simple but served in a lovely rooftop area overlooking the city - The private room was large, comfortable and clean, with good aircon - The location was great for central Manaus, a 10 minute walk to Largo de Sao Sebastião and the Opera House - There was a team of cleaners constantly cleaning the main areas so it never felt dirty - Reception staff were friendly and helpful - The hostel had a tour agency attached to it, which we didn't take advantage of, but could be useful for others. - Several shared areas, which gave it quite a sociable vibe

GermanyI think it is a bit pricey for what you get. The AC in dorms runs only certain hours and there is no other public AC room for work or just to cool down. The tours by the ascociated company are way too expensive.
The architecture is the best with nice decorations all around. The room, breakfast and staff were also good.

CanadaThe hostel is a bit rundown, and the number of toilets is not enough for everybody. The wifi in dorm was weak. Overall, it is good for a few days
The stuff were very fruendlyband helpful despite their limited English. The location is very close to Amazon Theatre, average breakfast, and relatively cheap.

United KingdomNot enough thought out into the bedrooms. Nowhere to place your belongings, no drawers or table, no lamps or bedside table or...anything! Room was large enough for a simple table and chair for example. Our double room had 3 beds but was spartan! However the communal areas very very comfortable.
Good breakfast in a pleasant setting within an open air restaurant. I liked the artwork- churned out by the same artist, but eye catching and a vivid portrayal of Amazon wildlife and tribal life. You see far more species on the walls of this hostel than you do at the jungle lodge! Though we did take a tour just after the dry season when the rivers were low. Disappointing after travelling all the way from the UK. However, that's not the fault of the hostel. This hostel is a good base in Manaus and a welcome escape from it's hot streets. Easy 10 - 15 min walk to the square with the iconic Opera house. I felt at home here.
