My husband and I stayed at Motel Le Charentais during a biking trip. It was the only choice available in the area, so I called ahead and clearly asked for a clean, smoke-free room, especially after reading some negative reviews. While the motel is old and could benefit from better upkeep and more professional management, our room was acceptable for the price. The staff was genuinely kind and accommodating—they even offered us a complimentary beer and provided a coffee machine for our room. Overall, despite its limitations, it served its purpose and we left satisfied with our stay.

Bed bugs!!! And the room wasn’t heated (it was in March) upon arrival and the heating plates weren’t enough to heat the entire room and toilet for the night. This motel was definitely not suited to be opened in winter. Missing too much insulation. You can also hear tenants talking in adjacent rooms. Outdated furnitures.

Location, friendly staff, large room, wooden wall, high ceiling and wide windows make the room feel cozy.

Room was damp and cold at arrival, many wet ceiling tiles, slightly moldy smell, hole in bathroom door, some bugs in the room.

not clean. I found 2 spiders and a cockroach hanging out in the tub the first day . The ceiling and walls were covered with cobwebs. Pretty sure the bedsheets were last changed ages before my check in.

Disgusting beyond , dead bugs everywhere inside the room , floors were flithy , owners were aggressive and tried to blame us for damage to the parking lot after having cars flying around it all night as well as police !

Cleanliness

The motel is in a very very very poor state. The bed was not clean, the sheets were not changed, they had hair and stains. Everything seemed to fall apart. There was dust. I was shocked with the level of hygiene and wanted to leave but it was too late that day to drive in the night.

NOTHING - Filthy, wires exposed, cracked floors, bad odour, stains, unreasonable pricing for quality of installation and no professionalism. We paid went to the room and left.

It was old, dirty, and poorly equipped. At first, I was offered a room but the sink and the toilet didn’t work - staff asked if that would be a problem?! I had to insist before I was offered another room - this one with half the lightbulbs missing, no towels, and no soap; it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks.

All of the above, plus we selled smoke from other rooms. There seemed like drug deals going around the building. People running around here and there through the night. We had to leave at 330 a.m. because we couldnt sleep there. Too hot and dirty and a shady atmosphere. This was the worst way to complete our vacation. We would like a full refund of our money as soon as possible as we were royally ripped off. Thank you. You should stop advertising this place. It is false advertising.

Nothing. The booking was shady! The advertisement totally wrong and misleading! The host very ghoulish. The room dirty, the bedsheets had crumbs and dirt between the sheets. No coffee/ tea/ glasses/ condiments. The tv did not work. A dog was barking mistreated and left tied up outside a neighbouring room. The shampoo bottle had been used. Continued below

Thé stairs lack a handrail, making them a safety hazard. The window screens were torn or missing, thus mosquitoes were plentiful. A noisy air conditioner in just one bedroom. The fridge was filthy, and I mean really filthy! No glasses, cups, or cutlery. Awful lighting. No curtains in bedrooms. This property should not be listed by Booking.com.

there was nothing to like about the physical building!

Worst place we have ever stayed. There were no towels, soap or toilet tissue in the room when we arrived , the floor had not been cleaned and the screens were broke or missing. There were no smoke detectors.
