As an international business traveler, I did not like “the upsell” at check-in: “for $30 more per night, I could offer you a room with a better view”. It was off-putting. I would have had a better first impression if I had been offered a complimentary upgrade which is customary in world-class hotels. I was also disappointed that the hotel did not have a restaurant that offered Costa Rican cuisine. I don’t like ordering fish and chicken from a steakhouse. The chicken was way undercooked. The potatoes had no truffle oil as promised on the menu.

Aesthetically beautiful during the day and especially at night, I loved the layout and the old world charm of the hotel. The hospitality was exemplary. All staff members were friendly and accommodating.

we booked and paid for a room with a view. the view was directly into a grassy hill. basically no view at all. this made the tool very dark.

The staff not helpful. We arrived 11am knowing we could not check in which was fine. However, a check in of 4pm is the latest I have ever experienced. At 4.10pm we returned to reception - rooms still not ready! We spoke to the Supervisor who told my wife "reception not my issue speak to the clerks." Talk guy with bald head. We finally got our 2 rooms at 4.45pm.

Steven at reception was amazing. We showed up early and Steven was able to get us our room. Pool service was outstanding. The spa was great. The hotel was clean and perfect.

Very poor service, at the reception the girl said that breakfast is not included in the price, I showed her our reservation in booking, and that breakfast is included, but after 4 minutes she again tried to assure me that breakfast is not included, and I showed her again reservation, after which she indicated on paper that breakfast is included, I did not feel any greeting and friendliness, for such a price it is too poor service. We also wanted to play golf and clarified at the reception, the same girl said that they only have balls, but not clubs, and sent us to look for an office where we had to clarify if there were still clubs. The restaurant also serves not delicious food for lunch.

Since we arrived late in the night, were only got to sleep and as soon as we won't up we had to do our checkout. The room had a window with zero privacy, people next to the tennis court could literally see us lying in bed

We pre-arranged a travel cot/crib. After a long queue for check in, (where we were told the travel cot for our room had been prepared), we finally got up to our room with a very tired baby. However, after being told it was all done, the cot/crib was not in our room. So I went back down stairs to politely ask what was happening. I was given a blank look, and told the walkie talkie wasn’t working. This lack of organisation was obvious throughout the front of house staff, and beyond.

Service was awesome from the moment we checked in. From Roy, bellman who look after us our entire time, to Jose in Bar10 who went out of his way for a celebration dinner, to staff at check out.....all made it worth while and an amazing experience.

Do NOT take the 'up sell' of the 'Executive Lounge'. It was horrible. It was a room with snacks and buffet at mealtimes. Not appealing at all, kids touching everything and not the healthiest of snacks. We asked for our money back and got it with slight push back. I asked about the menu at the time of the 'up sell' and was told it's very good and aligned with their restaurants. One visit to the lounge was all we needed to see that wasn't accurate at all.

Sounds in hallway rather amplified - louder guests returning to their rooms was a little annoying.

Lunch: Had the most delicious burger and beer at the Bar 10. Beautiful setting and exceptional service.

despite asking months in advance to get an adjacent room for our kids, they put us next to a connecting room with women that partied until 5am singing drunk. we complained and the staff did help and relocated our kids next day but they did not apologised nor seem overly caring
