Hotel was a bit dated,but it was very clean.

Location is very close to Hamburg Central Train Station. Literally a 5-6 minute walk, yet a quiet location. The bed was very comfy, hotel looked tired but was very clean. The breakfast was really good, plenty of choice and something for everyone. I liked having our own coffee pot. I liked the old style of the hotel, it was quirky.

We loved Hotel Senator. The retro hotel decor is very of its time, but seems lovingly maintained and in very good condition. The waterbed was so comfortable, the breakfast was incredibly tasty with lots to choose from. Plus the staff were so friendly and helpful. The location is great for the station and wandering to the Rathaus. And just down the street is a restaurant called das Dorf which had very delicious food. We would love to return!

Great location - and as a solo female traveller, I didn't feel unsafe. The hotel is a little dated, but in a cool 'retro' way that gives it charm. The rooms and facilities are clean and comfortable. Keys are left at reception, but it's 24/7 so it wasn't a problem for me.

The second night, the heating did not work at all. By 11:00 PM, someone came to address the issue but was unable to fix it.

I booked a room for two nights at the beginning of March when it was still cold in Hamburg. However, on the second night, the heating did not work at all. By 11:00 PM, someone came to address the issue but was unable to fix it. He suggested that I move to another room the next day, which was my checkout day. As a result, I had to sleep in my clothes that night. Additionally, the bedside light on the wall also stopped working. After a quick check, I was provided with a bedside lamp on account of not being able to charge my phone as there was only one outlet. To compensate for the inconvenience, I was allowed to leave the hotel at 14:00 instead of 12:00 .

Very good value for money at the time of booking. Great location: 5-minute walk to main railway station, 20 min to center of town. Room: a bit retro style (could consider an eventual design upgrade) Bed: comfortable Shower: good. Noise level: quiet! even of the street side. Cleanliness: excellent Lighting: good wifi: worked well, but a hacker's paradise. I always dissuade people from using wifi that is accessible without secure password protection. Would I return? Yes! …but of course, it depends on the prices at the time of booking.

Hotel Senator is a really nice hotel, and has been for many years. The atmosphere feels like home and the hotel has its original personal look. Much better than all the boring modern hotels, who all look the same.

Excellent location for a city trip, with inhouse parking garage, close to public transport, museums and theaters. Room was good, very quiet, comfortable, everything clean and in good working order. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was perfect.

Unfortunately the lift was broken when we arrived on Saturday but was working again on Monday morning.

The breakfast was very good. Huge choice of options including scrambled eggs and bacon, smoked salmon, fresh fruits, the list is endless. Excellent!. Location was very central and ideal for visiting the Christmas markets.

The only lift in the hotel wasn't working. A bit of a pain when your room is on the 5th floor. A minor quibble - It was a little disconcerting that there wasn't a coffee machine in the breakfast room. The staff brought a coffee jug quickly, but it was much more than I needed.

Great location, close to the station and in a nice street. It's a charming hotel, a little old-fashioned but none the worse for that. The room was small but comfortable enough and with all the facilities I needed. Good staff and my thanks to the gentleman who carried my suitcase up to the 5th floor, as the lift wasn't working.
