Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Nothing much!
It was located in a pretty nice and calm area. Free parking was available and it was not crowded as well. I was the only one in a 4 beds room on the first night.

They did not provide any towels. No hair dryer. Check out at 9. Confused receptionists.
We were there for Ironman and it was a super position for it. Also they made breakfast from 6 that day.

Surprised there was no wi-fi. Sometimes the youth groups were a bit loud in the halls, but one must expect some of that when staying in a youth hostel. The insulation dampened the noise a bit, so it was not too bad. The ventilation in the shower worked well, but was kind of loud and I had no control over how long it stayed on. It did shut off by itself at some point though, so I was able to sleep in peace.
There was a transportation strike during my stay and I could not be more thankful that the location easily allowed me to adjust my transport plans. It's reasonably close towalk to either the S-train or the U-train system, as well as being relatively easy to reach from Duisbuerg center. The room was big enough to not feel cramped, and I really like that the toilet and the shower were in seperate spaces, but with a sink for each. The cold breakfast was sufficient, quite decent choice. Happy about boiled eggs on Sunday, sad not to have them on Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for the water bottle in the room, was very helpful one day!

Wifi connection was not the greatest. Wifi didn't reach room, was very slow.

There was not even a small shampoo in bathroom or WC and beds were not comfortable!
Was neat and clean! Everything was in order! Breakfast was quiet good and staff were friendly !

There was no soap in the bathroom and for two days in a row I had to get toilet roll from reception because we only had one roll to start with for our shared room. The housekeeping staff weren't even checking for that even though they emptied the bin. I shouldn't have to be retrieving things myself for the room.
The location was perfect as I was doing the Half Ironman Triathlon.

I expected a bit more variety of different selections for the breakfast. I have stayed at different youth hostels in Germany where the breakfast had different selections of bread and homemade food instead of processed varieties.
Very nice location. Beautiful sorroundings. Parking place for the car. Nice room and a nice breakfast.

- Arriving to find out my booking was ignored and then having to wait for 1 hour while they tried to find me a room as it was already fully booked. - Having to put the bed sheets on myself despte pqying hotel rates. - No towels given and bad attitute of staff when asking to borrow them. I only got one tiny towel. Booking.com indicated room has towels. - Basic breakfast. - Having to change rooms after day 1. - Heater not functioning in second room, TV not working in first room.
Locatiin if you want to be close to sportpark.
