Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere was a strong smell of smoke at the entrance because the smoking area is right nearby and the lifts are a bit slow but. I am just not picking now!
Perfect location right in the centre, opposite the Porta Nigra. We took a Porta Nigra view room and so worth it for the amazing view! The room was huge and super clean - the hotel must be quite old but has been kept to a high standard. Bathrobes and slippers provided, extra pillows supplied, good toiletries and finally a place that supplies conditioner as well as shampoo! Staff spoke excellent English and were kind and helpful, thank you!

United States of AmericaThis was my second stay and i had HOPED the bad shower in my first room there was a fluke. It was not. The bathrooms REALLY need to be impoved. Because i could not adjust the shower head, i had to face it forward, which then sprayed water past the pathetic little glass barrier and onto the floor and counter. So i got to mop the floor with my towels after every shower. For the love of cheesecake, this is annoying. Bed was surprisingly hard...consider foam pads. Also, not every room has a mini fridge and being wine country, they should so that we can bring a local bottle of white back for later. This is a cheap addition that will be greatly appreciated.
You absolutely cannot beat the location. Minutes from the central area with front row seats (at breakfast) for the best view of the porta negra. Breakfast is hearty. Mimosas are available too! The bar is decent. Food is available till 2100. Rooms are of good size and soundproofed. Decor is bland, but modern and clean.

United KingdomBreakfast is very expensive. It's a good offering (and a great view of the gate) but there's a bakery round the corner that's a lot cheaper! The room cleaning was a little hit and miss, one day both mugs and glasses that had been used weren't cleaned and another the tea-bags that had been used weren't restocked, but they are minor things.
Staff very friendly and helpful and helped me secure my bags safely when I arrived early. Spacious rooms. Great location, 10 or so mins walk from train station and directly opposite the Roman Porta Nigra gate.

United States of AmericaAs this is a chain, it lacks the charm that locally-owned hotel might have. Wish there had been more types of Broetchen offered for breakfast, but that is not a complaint. . . just a suggestion. All in all, this was a very good stay, and the location was topnotch!
The best aspect of this hotel is a spectacular location - just actress the street from the Porta Nigra! View from my room was superb, and so much was in very easy walking distance. The room was a good size, and beds were comfortable. Breakfast, although expensive (typical for good German hotels), was a great buffet with many tasty offerings. I found my room to be clean, but some travelers in my group felt that the room was less clean than desired.

United KingdomPerfect location for a visit to Porta Negra. We stayed one night here on our way through Germany and we had plenty of time to visit the centre of town as it is literally across the road from the hotel. Facilities in the hotel were as you would expect from a Mercure. Comfortable room and breakfast was good. The bonus is the parking underneath the hotel.

United KingdomIt did not have a fridge, which I think is very impractical especially for families e.g. keeping baby's milk and snacks.
Very good location and the room was nice and large. We had a baby accident at night and staff come upstairs to help us and clean. We were given a fresh baby mattress and sheets for the cot as well.
