Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThere was not a lot of entertainment on the resort. The was very little choices when it came to the food buffets compared to other resorts in the area. Lastly personally I found the beds to be very uncomfortable. I got very little sleep throughout my week.
The resort was easy to navigate. Great view of the ocean. The staff were very nice. The ocean was great to swim in. No seaweed or coral so great for going barefoot.

NetherlandsSee the remark about the steps. Furthermore. It is quite remote. So if you want more than just a beach/swimming pool, you really need a car (or book trips via the tour desk).
Hotel with a beautiful location/view. I had a room with a sea view and that is really worth the extra amount. Staff is very friendly, everything well maintained. Buffet fine, but standard items that I (only had a three-day stay) quickly recognized from previous evenings. Disadvantage: a lot of stairs. Not suitable for people with mobility problems.

PolandDinner. My only but big dissapointment. Lunch was awesome though and breakfast just ok, could be so much better. We didn’t get sick, but food lacked flavour. But I loved the place so much it wasnt a problem.
Oh my favourite place of all DR. What a gem. I didn’t expect too much reading the reviews but oh! It was just great. First of all, the location. I have never been to a hotel that has such a 250degree views of the sea. That was the number one. The place is so well designed you feel like you are almost on your own and they were sold out! So many areas to chill, on so many levels. Wherever I looked it was just beutiful. Even a space behind the building. Even the parking lot looked like a garden! Just amazing. The staff is also amazing and will be happy to help. My mum didn’t like her toom so they changed it at no extra charge(we were glad to pay but didn’t have to). The lunch was excellent a la carte. Dinner was meh. Breakfast ok. I loved the locations of the restaurants. The rooms were a bit old school in design(not my favourite style) but of all the hotels we went to it was by far the best kept rooms. You know that feeling when everything just works and everything is there when you need it. Like working a/c, and quiet, a lovely coffee maker, a good magnyfying mirror in the bathroom, a lovely ice box… etc etc. The bartenders know their cocktails too and the bar is so well priced.

GermanyFood is delicious but not suitable if you have any food allergies. Allergens are not labeled at all. Also, no guidance from the kitchen staff. Lobby staff and guest relation promised help, but nothing happened even after multiple approaches. Only one shop in the hotel area, which is pretty small and expensive (bring enough sun screen, snorcheling equip, etc.)
Hotel location is separated as it seems and thus very quiet. Beach is super clean and beautiful. No sales people in the whole hotel area (besides the travel guides in the hotel lobby that guests can approach if needed). At the beach you can enjoy the sound of the sea, while the pool area offers a great animation program and music. The hotel offers an outstanding view to the sea. Chance to see some whales if you are lucky (bring binoculars). Free shuttle to the close by Baccardi Island.

CroatiaI’m very happy with the overall experience, I must mentioned that before my stay I read a couple of worrying reviews about food intoxication, this has nothing to do with hotel food, if you have a sensitive stomach just avoid drinking tap water and ice and you’ll be fine.
Absolutely amazing experience. Attentive and friendly staff made our stay enjoyable. The location of the hotel is unbeatable with view on Samana bay. It has a private beach and a free of charge transport to the nearby cayo levantado island. The rooms are clean and well maintained. We fell in love with the hotel and its location so much that we decided to prolong our stay for a few more days. The food was great and diverse and the service was impeccable. there are plenty of different cocktails and local premium drinks included in the all inclusive offer. The hotel threw a wonderful dinner and experience for new year’s eve. everything was magical. We are already looking forward to repeating our stay next year.

United StatesHaving travelled for the last 2 years throughout the Caribbean mostly at The Ritz- Carlton Hotel and The Excellence hotel chains we decided to take a chance with the Bahia Principe Luxury Samana. Two days at the hotel I was sick with severe diarrhea and cramping, so much so we had to seek treatment from the on site doctor which we had to pay for as the hotel would not accept any responsibility. Now five days in I am getting the same symptoms. Others at the resort have complained with similar but not as severe issues. This resort does not take the preparation and handling of the food seriously enough. Also I have informed the resort of several occasions noticed by not only myself but several other guests that glasses were being reused at the pool bar that were not cleaned after someone else had used them. They did not address the issue at all. I have never written a bad review on any other vacation but felt compelled to warn people about this hotel. There are several issues with management, staff, and service. Please be careful if visiting this resort. This resort does not warrant the risk.
The Sea View. Very friendly. The employees who worked at the front desk very polite and professional, all waitress are very friendly and welcoming.

United StatesNot 5 star ! When we got there we were told we have to upgrade to be all inclusive. 280$ more for 4 nights. The rooms need upgrade!! There was no extra amenities such as bath robe , slippers, and the simple nice extras. We only had access to 1 restaurant which was terrible and both my husband and I got food poisoning! I was literally throwing up off the boat on one of the excursions. The general buffet food was not good with little options! The property location was very nice though and felt private , the pool and beach was very nice

CanadaThe food at the buffet restaurant was very bad and repetitive. There were no entertainment or recreational activities during the day, making it very boring
The hotel was located on a hill surrounded by water. Everywhere you go, you encounter several steps. There was a small private beach for those who enjoy the sea. Dominican RepublicThe TV was not smart lol. We had local programming, but we used our Laptop for Netflix. There was no room service available yet at stated by the reception. Those plastic cup from the Las Olas Restaurant have to go.
Ocean view and the sound of the waves crashing. The hotel seemed freshly painted and was pretty clean. The room was decent, the staff was very nice and helpful. It was nice to relax.

SwitzerlandWhat a shame that the hotel lacks the basics - a hotel management to make you feel welcome, respected and safe. The hotel policy and some of the staff behave unprofessional and respectless. Socially highly respected persons of my family could not enter and were told to stay out, even that their short visit was communicated by us at the reception quite some time ahead. My two family members had to wait in their car halfway in the street till i arrived, still being refused to pass to solve the matter. Awkward, even dangerous. I checked out of the hotel immediately after this unfriendly and offensive treatment, among other, I started to be also worried for my safety and comfort. Asking for a reimbursement for the 2 additional nights already payed - booking come sending forward my complaint - I am still waiting for any answer/excuse of the hotel more than 2 months later. I recommend presently not to go in any of the Bahia Principe hotels till their unprofessional, respectless and intransparent policies are changed.
It is an excellent location and hotel complex, and has a partially nice staff - too bad it lacks the basics, hospitality.

United StatesI think there needs to be plastic covers on the food that you can open and help yourself when its in the open area. I think when you check in someone should tell you what there is to do and how the restaurants work-the fact that there is only ONE open per night, NOT 3. Did not like having to ask for ice for the room instead of getting it ourselves-one time it took ½ hour to receive it. Did not like having to wait for my room when I did the online check-in days before and stated that we would arrive between 2-3; we arrived at 3p and it still was not ready. We had to ask if we could go eat because we had not had lunch. We are property owners of the chain Bahia Principe but when we presented our ID it meant nothing to the staff. We were supposed to received a steady check-in as its part of our benefits. Not even sure if we received the other benefit which was a discount on the room. When I asked they said my room was already paid for- I assumed because we used Booking.com. The hotel is not good for those who can not handle stairs. The amount of stairs to do anything was relentless. This hotel is basically only good for a romantic get-a-way as it very small. We usually stay at a 5 star rated hotel and are made to feel special. We did not feel the 5 start experience here.
All of the food was well prepared. I did NOT like the fact that the snack area by the pool had food uncovered and a TON of flies helping themselves to the food. That was the first day. I did not see too many flies at the regular buffet area but still saw some. The hotel is very beutiful and the staff maintain the cleanliness which is not easy when it rains.

United StatesStaff was very careless and never gave straight answers to our concerns. Health and safety concerns like open buffet with flies flying over the food and worms in sink. Me and my husband actually got sick. Also there was no reassurance of safety measures before hurricane Fiona so with all that we checked out early before the hurricane hit the country.
I love the location. There was an amazing view.
