Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

It was a nice apartment. Nice to stay in a cave and to experience it was nice and cool inside.

SpainYou do need a car as it's a couple of kilometers from Guadix center. No hooks or hangers in bathroom to hang towels or clothes on.
Authentic cave house with a traditional Spanish interior. They have a pool too in the summer (we didn't use it as it was still closed during spring). You can park your car right in front of your cave.

United KingdomAccess to some of the rooms is hard, reached by very steep gravel roads. Difficult for travellers without a car. The site is very close to a busy motorway and some apartments have constant traffic noise. Pool not open when we visited (end of May)
Really interesting apartments built in to the hillside with full facilities inside. Lovely private terrace outside carefully planted with shade giving and aromatic plants. Friendly and helpful staff.

SpainThe noise from the motorway when outside having a glass of wine on the terrace. Needed a side table by the bed on each side. Distance from city with no apparent transport. There may have been taxis, but we did not find any.
Quietness of the room once we were inside. Cleanliness - although one of the long bolster cushions was a bit smelly. Quirkyness.

United KingdomWe felt the pool area needed attention. The grass was quite long, there was some litter and it looked a bit untidy. There were some cracked pieces of concrete along the side of the pool. We did use the pool bit wouldn't want to spend a long period of time there. The bar area smelt of fried food and often looked like there had been a kids party and nobody had bothered clearing up!! We ate in town instead.
The cave house was fantastic! Clean, bigger than we expected and very quiet. We loved it!! The pool was handy too in the hot temperatures.

United KingdomThe motorway noise would be annoying if sitting outside or using the barbecue area.
The Cuevas offer very comfortable, spacious and interestingly decorated caves with parking outside the cave. Very suitable for self-catering visits of more than 1 night, but the onside restaurant means it is also suitable for stopovers. The caves are grouped on several levels. The highest levels have the best views (including uninterrupted views of the Sierra Nevada) but get more traffic noise from the adjacent motorway.

BelgiumLocated somewhat higher up in the soft-rock hills of Guadix, with a nice outlook over Guadix historic centre couple of miles away (with the Sierra Nevada) in the background, the cuevas Pedro Antonio are beautifully and naturally embedded in the landscape - the rooms are very comfortable but still preserving the local style and atmosphere. We even had a jacuzzi to relax in (which the original troglodytes probably missed out on). The room was very clean and having many decorative/local details. Diner was included and comprised of a decent home cooked meal and breakfast was of the basic continental variety. All in all an authentic and special/worthwhile stayover on our roadtrip across Andalucia.

United KingdomThe cave was a bit fusty and needed airing when we got in. Hot tub didn't appear to work. Location next to the motorway so a bit of car noise. Internet non-existent and food only so-so.
Quirky accommodation staying in a cave on the outskirts of Guadix. The suite was spacious and well-equipped for self-catering, if you wanted to cook for yourself. Friendly staff. Great experience for a night or two to explore the local area and its fascinating history and landscapes.

SpainChecking in by waiting at a busy bar is not ideal, they should use their abandoned reception desk. It is close to the highway with constant noise, also the people staying next to us were playing music (unfortunately reggaeton) very loud and I had to ask them to stop - the staff should be paying more attention to the comfort of the guests. Additionally, they dont have a menu for breakfast and the staff didnt speak a word of english so I had to translate for some other guests so they could order toast and coffee - if you receive international guests then you need to be better prepared, even a menu in Spanish would have avoided the situation (people can translate with their phones)
The cave house itself was cosy, simple but with everything you need. For those without a car it is 15m walk to the train station, 35 into the town centre. Be careful as the Google Map address is wrong and takes you to someones private residence 5 minutes away. A nice hike to Benalúa starts near the restaurant (route PR-A 155).

CanadaIt would be very helpful if the hosts who were not around and not at reception could have given a WhatsApp phone number rather than a local phone number. I could not get the local phone number to work. I did , however send the host a message and via booking, and he did reply quickly Confusion was that when you pull up to reception where there is no one there the sign says go to the restaurant and get your keys there. Then there's a big sign over a door (it was locked) that says restaurant. what I didn't realize was that that sign actually was an arrow pointing downward on the property. I eventually found out that the restaurant was at the bottom of the property and I was able to then check in and get my key from them. I eat dinner at the restaurant. I would rate it very poorly. I ordered lamb chops that were pure fat and bone. I was unable to eat them. Price was expensive. The worst meal I have had in Spain.
