Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

There is not a huge area for socializing with tables, and the counter for eating at fits 6 people at a time. The lockers are too small to fit a full sized case or pack. There is no privacy in the 14 bed dorm, no curtains on beds like in some other hostels.
You can cook there in the small kitchen. They have a good range of utensils and pots etc. There are a lot of people staying so you need to time when you'll access the kitchen. It is in a lovely neighborhood, and opposite a lovely new huge shopping centre. The staff were very helpful when they had overbooked and had no room for us, and shifted us to another terrible hostel on the other side of the city. We were able to return to Rio for the last 2 days of our 5 day stay. Buses are very close by. There is a supermarket in the shopping centre. The bathrooms are kept very clean. There is luggage storage for bags.

There is no privacy in the rooms, as the beds do not have curtains. There are no sheets to cover yourself with either, only blankets. Bags must be left in storage and not in the room.
The hostel is surprisingly clean and organized. It's in a very good area and close to the subway. Great value for money.

Okay for 1 night if you have earplugs and are easy going. Know that you may be sleeping in a room with 25 other people.

Everyone got just one blanket and it was quite cold during the night (but it was exceptionaly bad weather this week)

the beds were not that comfortable and the blankets were too cold. There was only one shower for 30 people and the shower was not working properly, but for the price it was okay

At night it was very cold, one little blanket per guest definitely not enough.
You get what you pay for, it was fine for one night.

We were sent to different hostel due to fully booked but they provided the transport. No towel provided. Only 3 bathrooms shared with many others.
Clean place, complete bathroom and nice staff. Also fully functional kitchen.

Beds were air bed bases, not conventional mattresses.....nit a big deal but a little surprised. Couldn't take my main small bag into the room... only a backpack. Was a little inconvenient to organise what I needed without constantly bothering the reception to access my main bag
Good showers and multiple bathrooms meant mostly no waiting to use. Multiple sockets provided for every bed.

Well it’s not their fault but I was in a shared dorm with lots of beds and some of the people I stayed with were awkward.
The staff was friendly and it was one of the cheapest stays of Madrid

Distance from the city center, Lobby, Not a joyful area for eating and socializing. Rooms get crowded on weekends or busy days.

One person only in the help desk was so rude ( Latin American young boy with lots of tattoo) He had a very bad attitude I complained against him on my feedback at hostel 165. The other 3 persons were so friendly and professional

One bathroom for 16 beds. Lights turn off completely EVERYWHERE at 23:00.

The mattress was not a bed one. It was the inflatable ones that people take to go camping. There were two bathrooms mixed for more than 15 people. It was very dark and couldn't see well at night. The beds were too close and as a result you sleep looking at the head of a stranger. Not nice nor the best choice for health.
