Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The room was very hot, even with the air conditioning on. We had young children and were too afraid to leave the window/door open because we were on a higher floor, and it was very hot as a result.

A great experience staying at this accommodation in Barcelona! The location is unbeatable – just steps away from metro and bus stops, making it super convenient to get around. Getting to and from the airport was also easy thanks to the excellent transport links nearby. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. There was always someone available at the front desk, which made check-in, questions, and anything else very easy. The best part- they offer secure cupboards to store your luggage after checkout! This was a huge plus and allowed us to enjoy the last day in the city without having to carry bags around. Highly recommended!

Nothing.
Every detail of the small Hotel makes you feel comfortable and convenient. Staffs are so nice and professional. I left my mobile phone in the room when I checked out, their staff kept it for me carefully until I sent sb to fetch. I will come to stay again if there is such chance.

It maybe wouldn't suit someone looking for a place with a lot of local character. The interior facing room we had was fine for a short stay but it might be claustrophobic for those staying longer

The room was quite small, though we were in Barcelona one night so that didn't matter. Plus the price of this room was reasonable so it wouldn't put me off staying here again.
SmartRoom is located 10-15 minutes walking distance from Barcelona Sants train station, so a convenient location. It's a lovely area, lots of green space if having walk around with a residential/tourism mix. We had a standard double room for one night. Barcelona is expensive so this room was at the lower cost end. The room was very clean, and had everything needed for a short stay. Not much room but that didn't matter. It's down a quiet street. We slept well as there was no noise. Comfortable bed and pillows. The reception team are friendly and helpful. You can purchase snacks here. And there's in the communal areas on tap.

The staff was super helpful with directions on how we could take public transportation to attractions and to the airport. The room was clean and similar to other hotels we stayed at in Spain. They have lockers we could use before check-in. The neighborhood gave us a feel of what it was like to live in the area with all the local restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores.

There is nothing I didn't like.
SmartRooms, Placa de Sants is in a superb location, close to the Metro (3 minute walk) and multiple amenities available. I felt safe and comfortable in that neighbourhood. The staff at SmartRooms BCN are friendly and helpful and check in /out was easy. My room was great, good size, clean and well equipped with a small fridge and kettle. The room was quiet and comfortable and very clean. I was very satisfied with my 5-day stay for work & play and would recommend SmartRooms BCN. I will certainly stay there again next time I am in Barcelona.

It was expensive for one night without any windows to the outside. The window was facing the interior of the building. Although, it was a Saturday night.
It was clean, very functional, free storage for luggage for the remainder of the day, even after checkout. The concierge was very helpful.

The rooms facing the street are not too quiet even if the window is closed. There were no glass cups.
The room was simple and not big, but had everything you need. Good bathroom. Daily change of bed linen and towels. Friendly staff. The location is quite good, there are restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Metro station 5 minutes from the hotel.
