Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing really.
In an idyllic quiet village this property has been lovingly restored and modernised to a high standard. Our hosts were so sociable and helpful and provided us with a personally cooked dinner. There is a peacefully trickling stream at the end of the garden with a table and chairs positioned to good advantage to enable you to sit and meditate the simple wonders of nature. They provided us with a nice breakfast including delicious home made jams all made from local produce.

United KingdomNothing, everything was perfect.
The place is amazing. The room was very clean, beds very comfortable, very quiet, all you can hear was the sound of the river. Jean Louis is an amazing host, he will make sure that you have everything you need. Etienne cooked for us, dinner and breakfast. We will deffinetly come back. Oh, and the little doggie, Ulis, is an excellent bonus. This is a very idilluc location.

United KingdomThe fittings and towels in the bedroom could do with updating, and some dispenser liquid soap would be great so as not to have to use a bar of soap that someone else has used - especially in these Covid times. A dispenser for shampoo would also be great. The bed in our room was definitely a double and not very long for me at 6’ so quite cramped. We have a ‘thing’ about white matching bedding so found the mix of colours a bit dated - but that’s just us. If you want ‘real’ France, Le Brevonniere will be for you.
Janine & Jean-Louis were wonderful, gentle hosts who made us very welcome. Ask to look at the photos of their renovation - amazing job! All materials of the period style have been used. When you know what the house(s) was like (a ruin!) you will appreciate the fabulous job they have done. We had table d’hotes and asked if we could have vegetarian or chicken in advance. Janine prepared the most delicious red squash soup, Chicken Gaston Gerard (a Dijon speciality) and a rhubarb dessert - all using home grown produce. A kir apero was most welcome and a pichet of red wine included. Excellent meal, very good value. The house is very remote but if you like walking, take the 3km walk to Rochefort to see the chateaux.

United KingdomFriendly hosts with welcoming drinks and chat. He spoke good English and involved his wife in the conversation by translating. The room was adequate (church bells switched off at night) with a sophisticated shower. Nearest restaurant on our overnight stay was in another village 10km away which provided a 3-course basic meal for a set price of 15 euros. Ample continental breakfast with fresh produce.

United KingdomThe only minor suggestion we have to make is that it would be appreciated if the bathroom towels could be larger - to bring them into line with other accommodation we have experienced in France. However, it was a real privilege to stay at La Brevonniere and we loved its ambience!
Loved the setting in a small village in a very attractive part of France. The hospitality was exceptional and one benefits from authentic French cuisine. The bedroom had ample storage space and the shower facilities were excellent. Plenty of things to see and do nearby - we revisited Semur-en Auxois, about 20 miles away, one of the gems of Burgundy.

United States of AmericaThat I couldn't stay longer. I was only there for three days. It is well worth staying longer if you have the time. It's a place of tranquillity where you can really disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The warm welcome from Janine and Jean- Louis made me feel comfortable and at home- They were fantastic hosts and hospitable. Breakfast was perfect and just what you need for a hike in the woods! I am so grateful for finding this gem.

United KingdomWe booked this place because the reviews mentioned a restaurant and on booking.com it stated that the restaurant was open. So we were surprised to learn that the restaurant was closed and there was no option to have dinner there, not even just bread and cheese. I'm not sure where the confusion originated, but it would be nice to set expectations right and do not advertise rooms with an open restaurant if that is not the case. The room has6 limited toiletries, just an open bottle of shower gel and an used soap bar.
The location is wonderful and the place is beautifully refurbished. A beautifully maintained ancient building! The owners are kind and friendly and very informal and casual. This is a pet friendly place, perfect for cat lovers!
