Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaI was using Booking.com to book a hotel with a lobby and front desk, because I had planned to leave our suitcases at the hotel until it was time to check in. I didn’t realize that it was an apartment until I had completed the booking. This should have been made clear from the beginning and I would have chosen something else. We had to lug our suitcases around with us which wasn’t much fun.

New ZealandMaintenance of the property - a window in the back room had a crack in the glass and didn't open properly (advised owner). Sometimes when unplugging kitchen appliances, the powerpoints (electric sockets) came out of the wall; only three cups for four people. Entry was an electronic 'fob' on the outer doors and then a key for the apartment. There was only one of each. It was fine for the key as there is a lock box outside the apartment door but we were two couples and when we did different things we had to work out who might be back first and they would take the fob.
We were a but wary after reading previous reviews, but the apartment was fine. Apartment is on first floor - there is a small lift or about 20 stairs. It is less than a five minute walk to Notre Dame - you could see it from the back bedroom. Transport was good - less than a 10 minute walk to Saint Michel Notre Dame for metro and RER B but there are two (possibly three sets of stairs. Fine going down but testing going up. Comfortable beds (didn't use the sofa beds so cannot comment); excellent shower; washer/dryer (in one) and a drying rack. A lot for good food places at your door as well as many souviner shops (prices matched those across the city).

AustraliaNothing really.
It's in a great location! Notre Dame is at the end of the street - less than 200m away! It's close to Le Marais and the Latin quarter. An easy walk from the metro (which is probs the best way to get there). It's also very roomy - you could comfortably fit more people than the 4 of us. The facilities are fine - not extravagant but perfectly OK. A good base for a paris adventure.

AustraliaThe location of the property was excellent. The Notre Dame was only a couple of minutes walk and it had easy access to public transport. Westfield des halles shopping mall was just a short walk away. The apartment had everything you need for a short stay along with your choice of places to eat just out the entrance to the apartment.

United KingdomCommunication is poor. The host didn't respond to the messages I sent through Booking, far in advance of our stay, asking about whether they could provide a travel cot and luggage storage. When I finally rang he said he'd look into the cot, but never got back to me. There was no hairdryer (it is listed as a facility) and my message checking about this was also ignored. As others have noted, the bathroom is in need of an upgrade, with a mouldy smell and peeling ceiling. To be clear, this is not the fault of the cleaners who did a great job throughout the apartment - this is a refurbishment issue and the only imperfect room in the apartment.
A beautiful, spacious apartment in a superb location. Wander around the local area, or take a very short walk to a boat tour or the Metro to explore the city. Beds are large and comfortable and the kitchen seemed well-equipped, though we didn't use it. There are lovely places to eat in the neighbourhood, crepes immediately downstairs and wonderful pastries on the corner. When Notre Dame reopens you can be there in moments.

AustraliaUnfortunately there were a few faults with this apartment. There were no bowls for eating our breakfast and the kettle didn't work. I messaged the contact requesting these items and the where about of the hair-dryer which could not be found and received no answer at all. The bathroom window had serious issues and water leaked in. Towels had been placed on the floor and window ledge to catch any water and rust staines ran down the wall. The shower was disgusting with lots of mould and about a half dozen left behind bottles of former visitors. One bottle was an old medicine prescription from a few years ago which shows it hasn't been cleaned out in ages. We noticed the drain in shower stank more each day. It was weird the shower was so grotty because the rest of the apartment was very clean. Some sockets in the kitchen need attention as they are no longer fixed to the wall and are now showing exposed live wires. It feels like they fixed it up to collect the income and have no further interest in it.
This grand old apartment would have been a beauty in her day. It has been redecorated but some bits need further attention. The master bed was rather small given the size of the room but it was comfortable. The location a few minutes walk to Notre Dame was amazing and it close public transport. It sits above cafes and souvenir shops.
