Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandHotel close to main road but very quiet. Rooms looked nice. Very comfortable room temperature. The breakfast was very good - both continental and English. The English breakfast was available on order and freshly made.

United KingdomIt would have been good to have bottled water provided in the room , rather than have to go and ask at reception . Coffee mugs were too large for the coffee machine !
Hotel was well located , opposite the Cathedral and in easy reach of shops and restaurants . Room was clean and in good order. Breakfast was good but I would have appreciated more fresh fruit in the buffet ( I know red fruits could be ordered from the main menu though ) and muesli rather than sweet cereals.

United KingdomIt’s my own little niggle - but I do like a little fridge in a room to keep guests own water/drinks in. So I’m always a little disappointed when there isn’t one
Fabulous location, beautiful building and decor, and it smelt amazing! The beds were very comfortable and there was room for two bags to be unpacked in the dressing area of our room. We were attending a rugby final at Wembley and decided to stop here and nip into Wembley from StAlbans on the train and we were so glad we did rather than stay in London. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Czech RepublicA couple of things need to be mentioned here. The most glaring problem was that there is a fan in the bathroom that cannot be turned off, according to reception for safety reasons. Given that the primary reason for most people staying in a hotel for a night is to have somewhere to sleep, a noisy fan that prevents sleep would seem to be a bad idea. This was one of a number of "almost but not quite" features of the hotel. The breakfast room is mostly nicely decorated, in a kind of nineteenth century style, but then there were mid-century style chairs, good in themselves, but really not in keeping with the rest of the room. The bedroom had rails for hanging clothes and for overnight it was fine, but very few hangers for a longer stay. The lighting by the bed semi-worked in a rather illogical way. As it was quite expensive, I would not stay there again if I could avoid it, but to be fair it wasn't terrible and the good bits certainly deserve appreciation.
There is a lot positive to be said about this hotel. It's the old offices of Samuel Ryder, and has been mostly redecorated and turned into a hotel with plenty of character. The room was a good size, with a fair amount of storage room, and good beds. The bathroom was also large and the shower was spacious. The breakfast room was pleasant and there was a good choice of food, which was very tasty. The staff we encountered were all very pleasant and helpful. Given that the hotel is pretty much in the centre of St Albans and we were there on a Saturday night, it was very quiet indoors. It's about a fifteen minute walk from the station, so if you're coming in to Luton Airport it's easily accessible and the journey then in to London is not very long.

United KingdomNo water supplied in the rooms! Not much room to hang clothes up.
The location was good and the car park just a short walk away. We did have drinks and bar food - only pizzas which were ok. The room had no water supplied which was very disappointing! This is now a given at most hotels, we did get some bottles at the reception but it would have been better in the rooms. The staff were very polite and friendly.

United KingdomWe were asked to book breakfast as the dining area is small. We booked for 9am, but there was no room - their ‘booking list’ ( a sheet of paper) did not appear to have many other bookings at the time so presumably walk-ins went ahead of bookings - and as we were needing to leave for an appointment at 10am, had expected a table to be available. Once seated, three of our four breakfasts came within about 20 minutes, but the fourth had not appeared by 9.40am and we needed to leave. We were disappointed.
Good room, comfortable bed.

SingaporeNot a problem for my son and myself, but the dining area did nit have enough capacity for the number of hotel guests, as people couldn't find any seating so had to stand waiting.

United KingdomWe would have appreciated an extra toilet roll in the bathroom, as one and half was skimpy for two elderly people for two nights. I wasn’t keen on the warehouse-like furniture…the heavy brown, angular shapes and connecting pipes, although the pictures on the walls were bright and cheery.
Access to the room was easy, either by lift or a small flight of stairs. The bed was comfortable. Soft carpeting in the passageways felt luxurious. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel building was lovely, amongst many other historical buildings on the road, and right opposite the Cathedral.
