Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNot much at all! Just be aware the staircases can be quite narrow so if you have a few bags be prepared :-) Also, is on the high side price wise, but to be expected given the location.
The room was HUGE for London - amazing space and great decor. The staff were fantastic and we shared a few laughs. Having the connection to the pub downstairs was great, and the breakfasts were very good. Location right in the square mile was perfect for our adventures

United KingdomA bit noisy - our room overlooked the adjoining pub beer garden & the 6am bottle bin collection woke us up every day. Steep narrow stairs were tricky with or without luggage.
Great location near 2 underground stations & the DLR to City Airport. Walkable to Tower of London/Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Borough Market etc.

United KingdomFinding the way in initially was difficult as the bar was very busy when we arrived. Luckily a helpful member of the bar staff showed us where to go.
The breakfast was fine. We had a cooked English breakfast which was cooked quickly and was very eatable. The serving staff were all very pleasant and happy to help. There was a limited selection of fruit and cold meats but ample bread, juice and drinks. The room was very comfortable and extremely clean. The area was lovely- interesting with lots to see nearby.

United KingdomThere are lots of stairs and narrow corridors, but this is an old building so not unexpected - there is a lift from the ground floor which we used on arrival and departure, with our luggage.
Loved the room, quirky and definitely not bland. We also loved how quiet it was and appreciated the double door system -every hotel should have an inner and outer door - we never heard any noise either from other guests or outside. Breakfast in the pub was tasty. We'll definitely be back.

United StatesThe only disappointing item was the mattress. Very uncomfortable, with deep depressions on both sides (probably old) and you can feel every spring. I woke up with back pain every morning.
Reception Staff is amazing. Friendly and welcoming and it was a pleasure speaking with them every day. It really made a huge difference in our stay.

United StatesI think the discerption of the hotel was not clear to me in that there was no lobby or lounge. Also access to the hotel was difficult due to the nature of the building, had I recognized those difficulties I would most likely not booked the room. My wife and I were also on extend travel and carrying 2 large suitcases. it was difficult getting the up to the room and the was not enough space in the room to work with them. Most of the issues were most likely due to me not looking clearly at the advertising material.
Staff was wonderful.

United StatesEverything was great!
The location of The Counting House Hotel at 50 Cornhill in the City of London is great, and since it was an historic banking institution adds to the charm . It was an easy walking distance to the hotel from the Liverpool Train Station, and fairly close for us to walk to some of the sites we were interested in such as the Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathederal. When checking-in to a downtown hotel that is an independent operation, and not an international brand, you never know what to expect, however, when my wife and I stepped off the lift at the Reception Desk we were warmly greeted by two amazing ladies. Earlier that day we had driven from Scotland to Cambridge --first time driving on the left side :(0 !, where we turned in our rental car, then hopped a train to London-Liverpool Station and schlepped our bags to The Counting House. We were exhausted, especially having just finished a two week concert band tour in Germany, so when we saw the smiling, friendly faces of Egle and Lauryn we knew we would be taken care of and we were at "home" for a few days! The room was spotless and everything was perfectly clean--good job housekeepers. We can not say enough about all of the staff we interacted with, both in the hotel and the pub/restaurant. The bartenders were friendly and quick, the young blond lady (didn't get her name) who apparently is the bar and restaurant manager was friendly and efficient, the young lady who is the breakfast attendant each morning was friendly and helpful, and our server, Sydney, in the restaurant upstairs was not only friendly and spot on with her tasks, but her warm and hospitable manner caused my wife and I to return for dinner all three nights! The obvious theme here is Friendly and Efficient Staff. On our last night at The Counting House, we spoke to each staff member, in the hotel and the pub, to tell them good-bye and there was a definite feeling that we would be leaving friends.

United KingdomIt's a bit out of the way for the main attractions like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace etc. but the quality and presentation of the place make it worth it and, as mentioned, the bus stop and tube station means you can go anywhere quite quickly and easily. Overall I would definitely consider going back.
The room was very clean and tidy, the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful nothing was any trouble to them. Breakfast was great and available until 11am which was useful. The lift to all floors was also useful but also necessary. There is a tube station at the bottom of the street and a bus stop between the hotel and the tube station where you can catch a bus to wherever you need to be.

Russiathere is no lobby, but this is more of a feature than a disadvantage
1. Great location in the heart of the City near Bank metro station 2. Excellent soundproofing from the noisy street 3. Large rooms, which is rare for London 4. Daily cleaning 5. Comfortable mattresses 6. Breakfast in the pub (breakfast is modest, but 2-3 times is excellent) We are returning to this hotel for the second time precisely because of these points
