Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomBreakfast - On my first morning I took advantage of the later finish and arrived around 9am. Unfortunately, my hash brown was dried up and my bacon and tomato were burnt at the edges. Dinner - the soup choice was the same every night! Disappointing. On my first night when I asked for the dessert menu, the server said that there was a conference coming in so I couldn't have dessert. When she saw my incredulity, she said she would ask the chef, and permission was granted. I think I saw another guest turned away because of the conference people coming in. On both night's of my stay the receptionist had to get someone to open the restaurant as it was still closed 15 minutes after it was due to open. No leisure facilities - a fitness room would have been nice. I wanted to pay my bar bill with cash, but was told it was card only. Not the hotel's fault, but be aware - taxi costs in the area are exorbitant. It cost me £15 for a five minute journey of a mile. I wish I had walked. No information card in the room and I couldn't find hotel information on the TV
Breakfast - good range of items to choose from. Friendly and helpful staff Dinner - reasonable choice and very tasty. I liked the soup especially Room - Large, well-appointed, great powerful shower with plenty of hot water, clean. More than one chair so if I had company we could all have sat down, which is not the case is some hotels. Good workspace. Reception and Bar open 24 hours I was told, although I didn't test it! Reception staff were always helpful and friendly. Housekeeping staff were also very friendly. Car parking was free and plentiful although I didn't use it. Nice location.

United KingdomThe bed !! It was horrendous ...... like sleeping on a sack of potatoes with a hollow bit in the middle ! I did mention this to the the nice night porter/receptionist gentleman when leaving .... & hobbled to the car ! We had a twin room, my partner said his bed seemed ok but I woke up with severe lower back pain which I still have although a to a slightly lesser degree over a week later, I've stayed in many hotels all over the country while away working for over forty years & have never complained about anything but please Hickstead hotel do something about the beds, maybe the "bad bed" was only in the (lovely & quiet & spacious) room we stayed in !? I've booked several more visits for the year to this hotel & cannot fault anything else, would love to stay in the same room as mentioned, quiet & spacious but maybe the floor would be more comfortable !? 😩 🛌
The staff were very friendly, professional & helpful Room service great & nice food ....

United KingdomRoom clean but starting to show it's age - Chrome on bathroom taps rubbed off - Staining in sink! a curved shower curtain rail would be an improvement. English breakfast disappointing - small portion - Egg under cooked - Beans cold - Bacon hard and dry. All staff though were excellent and polite.

United KingdomBreakfast menu advertised 'selection of cold meats and cheeses'. Reality was a bowl of grated cheddar and slices of processed ham. Baked beans were almost cold on first morning. Our bathroom door creaked SO loudly - woke spouse up in the night. Bathroom looked a bit tired.
Ease of location. Staff friendly and helpful. Good choice of breakfasts. Warm bed and room. Room nice and dark at night, and very spacious. Hospitality tray was well stocked.

United KingdomBreakfast for what you pay could be more, half a slice of bacon and half a mushroom??? Fried egg was ordered came with a totally cooked egg including yoke.
Asked for a ground floor room which was done nice and close to reception. Breakfast on the first morning was ok, second morning was not so good and probably the worst I have had all the times I have stayed there, so was disappointing. Staff were very friendly.

United KingdomThe fact that we could hear every word from the people in the adjoining room, so soundproofing would be a good idea (likewise they could obviously hear us). Decor could do with being freshened up and updated.
Rooms etc, very clean and staff friendly. Good choice of food at breakfast.

United KingdomThe room on the first night. was a connected room to that next door. I could hear the occupant breathing(not snoring), kept me awake. It sounded close enough to suspect someone had joined me in my bed. Fortunately , my second night, there was no occupant in the adjoining room, so a good night was enjoyed.
Location, good. Breakfast very good, decent portions tasty, selection of fresh fruit and no hidden costs.

United KingdomUsual problem of clinging shower curtain. You could copy Premier Inns who have a bowed shower rail that keeps the curtain from clinging but curtain still drains into the bath
Room larger than expected. Kitchen made oat milk specially for my wife's porridge, (it was supposed to be available anyway but wasn't) All staff friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast.
