We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaWiFi was on an unsecured network, and you had to keep logging back in every half hour. Other than that minor inconvenience, no problems.
Very friendly hostess. Huge and delicious breakfast. I had booked a small room, but was upgraded to a huge room. Located about midway between the train station (about a 15 min. walk) and the castle (less than 15 min. walk). Just a few minutes’ walk to the shore, with a Marks & Spencer Foodhall and lots of restaurants right nearby. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay; I would like to go back again.

Location was excellent, close to city centre, water front restaurants & ferries. The host is one of the most helpful, genuine & wonderful people we encountered after a month travelling the UK & you will not be disappointed if you choose to stay at Hubert House

Only negative was the stair climb to our room(3rd floor)-there is no elevator-which we knew about but decided we could handle the stairs; however our knees let us know we were not youngsters anymore. Owner was very accommodating and suggested we could store our extra luggage in a downstairs room(secure), which we did and only carried an overnight bag to our room. When booking if you have an issue with stairs, request first floor room.
The owner was very welcoming and the location was fantastic-how cool is it to look up the hill and see Dover Castle. Location close(within walking distance) to city centre, restaurants, pubs, stores. Wonderful home-style breakfast and wonderful conversation with owner. She was amazing and so helpful in obtaining a dinner reservation at a wonderful seaside restaurant and made taxi reservation for us to cruise terminal. Extra special touch was the sweet treats left on a table inside the hall-a nice surprise when returning at end of day after exploring Dover.
