Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandOnly stayed here 1 night on a stopover in Chester. Hotel is directly across from the train station and around 10 mins walk into Chester city centre. Hotel itself was lovely. Very spacious room with double bed. Bathroom was nice, clean and spacious also. I didnt have breakfast but on checkout i overheard someone say it was very nice. Staff were nice and friendly. Would definitely stay here again if in Chester. Slainte🇮🇪

United KingdomThere were a couple of small issues like the ice machine wasn’t working, the lift was out of order for our floor and tv in the room was a bit out dated.
Although under refurbishment the hotel was clean and tidy and the rooms were lovely with a nice view of the city.

The staff are exceptional. Professional, friendly, very attentive and responsive. The hotel is beautiful with a fabulous inner court/garden area. Very clean. Very close to the train station.

United KingdomThe main entrance opposite the station was closed and looked shabby - signage to other entrance through the car park was poor. We were not informed of this in advance despite having numerous emails offering an upgraded room. We chose this hotel as we arrived by train but the aspect from the station is poor. We understand building work is underway but a much tidier appearance could be offered.
Good clean room with lovely views over the city.

United KingdomWhen we were at the hotel they were in the middle of renovations to the older side of the hotel and courtyard area. It took a long time to check in, with large queues, and the bar was a small section off the breakfast area that was sectioned off. I'm sure things will be much better once renovations are finished and it didn't detract from a nice stay.
A good buffet breakfast was available. Rooms were large and very comfortable with a very spacious bathroom.

United KingdomI was trying to get hold of someone at the hotel to speak to them about an earlier check in, on day two of trying I managed to get hold of central reservations, who themselves couldn't get an answer. They sent a request via email for the hotel to get in contact and no one did. After our arrival I asked about an earlier check in and the gentleman on the desk was about as helpful as wet toilet paper. The experience of trying to get in contact and then the lack of interest at the desk, somewhat dampened an overall great stay.
The hotel was lovely, the room was really nice and the staff as a whole were great. The bar staff were really welcoming and friendly. The location was perfect for the evening that was planned. I would stay here again.

United KingdomQuality of cooked breakfast could have been a little better but overall the experience was very good.
We received an unexpected upgrade which was lovely the room much bigger than expected. Breakfast was good and served in a clean and relaxed environment and the staff were lovely. The location was just next to hoole railway station which was very convenient, there was no rail noise that we noticed and we were within walking distance of Chester centre and the river dee.

United KingdomThe bath needed a deep clean. Mould spots around the bath and a rust spot in the centre of the bath. That said, the rest of the room was clean, comfortable and well presented. This isn’t a criticism of the hotel, but the workmen strolling around the hotel whilst work was going on were foul mouthed and didn’t care that paying customers were in their presence and listening.
Reception staff on check in and out were excellent. Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, a real asset to the hotel.

United KingdomOur room 136 was next to the vents for the restaurant so could be a little noisy at times. As other reviews have stated the hotel is being refurbished and our only down side to this was not being able to go in the main entrance with its grand staircase.
The location of the property is perfect for exploring Chester, near the train station(you couldn’t hear the trains) and bus stops. It only took 15 minutes to walk to the centre. Our room was clean and provided us with what we needed apart from maybe an extra set of draws to store small items of clothing. Breakfast was a good quality with plenty of choice.
