Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

The shelf that the kettle and teamaking things were on was a bit small it would have been nice to have a chest of drawers with the teamaking things on also the ceiling in the bathroom needed fixing
It was a short walk from the train station and not far from shops and restaurants and a 20 minute walk to the river Thames

Maybe due for a fresh paint to cover water stain. A slightly bigger shower cubicle would be good
The location was perfect for our trip. Shower powerful and plenty of hot water. Reasonable sized room.

It was a little shabbier than the photos advertise but was clean and tidy nonetheless.
The location is great. Short walk to the train station and the centre of Richmond. Everything you need in the room. Staff were very friendly and helpful

You should provide plates in room to eat and have some stock of water at hotel so people don’t have to go out and buy water.

Ok it could do with some decoration but overall it was perfect and value for money.
The hotel was five minutes walk from centre of Richmond. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was hot. The staff were friendly.

A smidgen more general maintenance would have done a bit more to improve the overall look and utility of the room. However, this was a minor thing and didn't really detract from the overall experience.
It was comfortable, clean and warm. The staff were super friendly and (more importantly) helpful. Although the hotel and room did feel slightly 'tired', it was exactly what I needed - and most importantly it was a great location, clean and had a very decent shower. Fabulous value for money.

The floors are squeaky, you can hear them through the ceiling. TV is not smart but had all the regular channels. A socket by the bed would be a nice addition but there were plenty throughout the room. (Can be really nit picky and complain about chips in windowsill but that doesn't matter)
Size of the room was massive. The water pressure is amazing and the bath is deep and long. The location is great. The room was a little warm but the fan provided was perfect. Staff were lovely and more than happy to help any way they could, even offering to bring a sewing kit from home to help me! Road beside the hotel is very quiet.

Having stayed before, everything was as expected. Lovely staff, nice and comfortable room. Great water pressure for a much needed bath that filled quickly, and the room was cleaned every day.

All was good.

Just rooms really as no provision for offering breakfast, but this doesn’t bother us as so many places to go nearby.
Great location in Richmond and we were very lucky to get free parking overnight which is a great bonus. Easy access to station.

Room was nice and clean and bed was comfy room could use a bit of attention in the bathroom with fixing minor defects. Location was great literally a 5 minute walk to the tube.
