Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Shower was a bit weak in power. Had to use the shower head to wash around my body. Water was hot so personal preference I guess.
Breakfast was cooked fresh to order. Lovely poached eggs on fabulous toast with crispy bacon . We booked the time for breakfast and it was spot on

Being more senior in age, the steps to our room were rather awkward (steep and circular) but that was part of the experience. After all we are in 300 year old building. The door was about 5 foot 6 inches in height, so required bending to get in. But I would not change that, as we were staying in a historical building. When it was built they catered for the people of that era and didn’t know the following generations were going to be so tall!
Location ideal for exploring the Yorkshire moors, and we even spent a day checking out Hadrians Wall. Another day visiting Witney. York was only 20 miles away. Parked at the Park and Ride just out of the city and spent a day exploring York. Breakfast was great and the hosts Dawn and her husband (including barman who checked us in) were all down to earth.

Noisy floorboards, shower took a bit to warm up.
Food was tasty on the Friday night along with breakfast on both mornings. Sausage, scrambled egg and beans. The scrambled egg was the creamiest I've had in a while.

It is very cosy, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was spot on and delicious. We stayed to go to a midnight swim nearby and the staff were accommodating giving us the key code so we could get back in. We would recommend.

The water pressure in the shower was abit slow but otherwise there wasn't anything that we really didn't like.
Your cooked breakfast was delicious and the location of your guest house was peaceful being in a remote area. I am inspired by your bedside lamps with the beautiful backdrop on the wall, very calming.

Only downside was we only had a skylight so could not see anything or leave it open as right over a bed. Also water pressure was very poor but water was lovely and hot. Hopefully we will stay again next year but will make sure I book room with window .

The only complaint would be that taxis are very hard to get .
The staff were very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast was really tasty and there was a good selection of options. The common areas are very inviting. Highly recommend

A larger bath would have been nice, given the size of & amount of space in the bathroom.

A comfortable, clean and friendly little hideaway. Ideally suited base for our weekend plans. The full english breakfast set us up for our day. A varied menu of home cooked food was available for an evening meal. The host were very friendly and accommodating.This was our 2nd stay here and would definitely stay again.

I dont know if I wasnt using it right, but the shower pressure was terrible. It just trickled out of the shower, took forever to rinse my hair out.

The shower pressure could have been better but the hosts are aware of the situation and are dealing with it.
The food was superb. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Location was very quiet but within easy distance to any attractions.
