Water pipes very noisy. TV very small and poor signal. Sound from pub can be heard loudly in room. But for the price this wasn't a big problem, and it's partly because it's an old building, which has its problems but is also fun to experience. A new building wouldn't have these issues but also wouldn't have the same character.

Nice location in traditional British Village. Old style property that feels like you're staying in the mediaeval times. Had a decent desk for working. Good local amenities.

No cereals for breakfast but the full English was good. Property could do with a spruce up but heating was good. Shower was adequate but some shelving in cubicle would be useful.

Beds were comfortable and Karen who seemed to have to do everything, was very helpful and friendly but more staff on duty would be good. Car park was fine.

Reception efficient. Rooms clean with lovely fresh bed linen. Decor a bit jaded. Helpful friendly pub and staff. Good parking. Excellent breakfast freshly cooked included in price.

In room 1 - the cold tap over the basin leaked, and the carpets and stool had stains, looked tired. Room 2 - the toilet cistern leaked which in turn kept filling the tank, which was noisy. I appreciate, that old builds take a lot of money to maintain, but small maintenance doesn't take a lot of effort.

it was convenient as a one night stop before flying out from Heathrow Airport.

It was all good, nothing to complain about, cant expect everyone to want to get up as early as me so breakfast starts at 07.30

Super comfortable bed, great characterful rooms, nothings level in a traditional pub of this quality. Good breakfast and excellent warm welcome, good supper ( brilliant Pie & Mash!) as I arrived late and in 'Drowned Rat' state.

Very limited car parking…..had to park on street some hundred yards from venue. Average pub food. Breakfast was basically full English or veggie version. No option toast cereals etc. Basically place needed a make over but pleasant enough for one night. Not one for ladies I suggest.

Only short drive for Newbury office but was located on surprisingly busy junction in Kingsclere village. Warm welcome and good beers.

The first room we were given the shower hadn’t been cleaned when I complained they gave us another room where the shower was ok but the room was smaller. We had dinner the first night which was awful as was the breakfast the following morning we found somewhere else for our dinner the second night and our breakfast the second morning. The reason I booked that hotel apart from being near where we were visiting was that we could eat there as well.

It could do with an overhaul but what do you want for the price? It was a perfect base for our needs. The beds were clean and very comfy. We were lucky to stay in the outbuilding which I would request if possible. The staff were great and I will book again for next year

Location - we went to Carfest for the weekend but didn’t want to camp. The pub was a 15 minute easy drive. The breakfasts were great. Some of the politest and friendliest staff!

I booked a room with two single beds via Booking.com. The booking details were confirmed by both Booking.com and RedCat. I popped into the Hotel at 12.30 AM to check you had the details of my booking and to advise we would not be back to physically check in until around 20.00 after playing golf. When we checked in later we found the room had a double bed, not two singles as booked and confirmed, and we were told that no other Rooms were available. Fortunately your staff eventually managed to find an alternative room with two single beds. I booked the George and Horne because of its proximity to Sanford Springs Golf Centre. I would consider staying again in the future but am very wary that we would have the same problem - not getting what we book.

    Staff friendly
