Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Staff in the Fat Badger lovely, housekeeping staff cleaning our room very rude. Upon leaving, we mentioned to reception that the Mattress in the room needs changing, awful sleep.
Location central to all, perfect for strolling around.

Room was smaller than expected but an excellent base & spotless. Parking was pricey especially as a hotel resident, but convenient due to location.
Location excellent, the fat badger food was fab would certainly recommend eating here; we had dinner, breakfast was good but a little slow at replenishing. I'd stay again if in area.

Unfortunately our room had no air conditioning and was very warm we could open the window but the kitchen extractor fans were right outside and they switched on at 5-30 am which wasn’t ideal. The tea cups hadn’t been washed either. Other than this the room was clean.
Excellent location, very friendly staff and the food, drinks and atmosphere at The Fat Badger( restaurant/pub attached) was first class. We spent the evening sitting outside where there were patio heaters and over the table heaters, excellent.

Our room was very small not enough room around the bed and the room was too hot the pipes run around the room which makes it uncomfortable with the heat
The hotel is in a great location, and having the Fat Badger attached is great

Stayed at the White Hart for years in the hotel & large apartment & always happy. Stayed in a standard bedroom in the Annex this time. Bed small, hard & uncomfortable-whilst the sheets were clean & fine the quilt was thin and filling in the edges not in the overall quilt, an old, tired quilt. We will make sure we are not in the annex another time.
The location is great, staff always helpful, friendly, polite - Fat Badger bar perfect on site

Couldnt find a seat in bar or outside as it is not just for residents it was super busy so we couldnt have a relaxing drink at the hotel. Food was expensive in comparrison to the quality and value. Bits of the room were a little tired, marks on bed cover and cup marks on bedside tables, large crack in sink, carpet well worn. None of this spoilt our stay but we paid over £200 without food for 1 n8ght so have had better rooms for less money elswhere.
Stunning building and decor. Bar and outside seating also very lovely. Very friendly staff. Room was 4 poster. It was spacious and the sofa, tv and reading lights were fab Parking was super easy.

Our delux room was in a different building, I knew that and that was fine. But the carpet was awful and very stained. It made the whole room look grubby. Also on the write up it stated some bathrooms don’t have a bath. Our bathroom didn’t have a shower. Being of a certain age having a bath wasn’t easy for us.
Food was excellent! Staff very friendly. Excellent position for the town. Good bed, lovely towels. Good car parking facilities. Wi-Fi was very good.

Just car parking at £15 was excessive and the fa t this was for disabled blue badge holders. Stayed at numerous hotels in Harrogate and this was first time we have been charged.

Overnight parking at £15 for guests seems excessive. We parked further up the road for free.
Lovely bright room with plenty of hanging space for clothes. Iron and ironing board in the room plus tea and coffee making facilities. Staff were helpful and welcoming.
