Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere were a few hidden expenses that were not so enjoyable. Breakfast was more expensive than originally led on- myself and my partner were hit with a large bill at check-out that we were not expecting. Parking is still quite expensive at fifteen pounds, although discounted by staying at the hotel. This was not clear enough on the website we used to book, and again was added to our bill without knowledge- watch out for this!
The facilities were fantastic! The spa is a massive perk and very relaxing. The restaurant was nice and food - while small in portion size- was very enjoyable. All areas of the hotel had a fantastic atmosphere and staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location is ideal, it is in the centre of Harrogate while still isolated from the busy streets, it was a 10 minute walk to the train station, allowing us to really explore Yorkshire!

United KingdomThere was a large wedding happening the afternoon and evening of Thurs 22nd Feb. We found it was very noisy trying to get to sleep, due to the number of guests heading upstairs drunk to their rooms talking loudly. It was intimidating trying to walk through the lounge area past the settees to try to get into the bar at night. Large volumes of drunk men wasn't quite what I was expecting to encounter on a Thursday night in February at a high end hotel.
The spa was amazing. The dining room and bar area was impressive. The king size bedroom was generously sized. Free freshly baked cookies on arrival was a welcoming gift too to take up to the room.

United KingdomThe £25 additional charge per pet - we are used to paying an additional amount and that's fine but this is too much and is not obvious when booking. If a hotel advertises as pet friendly - it should reflect this in every aspect. The hotel are missing a trick here. A few little touches in the pet friendly rooms to welcome both humans and their companions would go a long way to winning customers over. Cookies handed out to a queue of people waiting to check in was a nice gesture but better to put another member of staff on the desk at peak check in times. I appreciate this would require an additional check-in PC station but for a hotel this size I think its an investment that's worth making as it's the first impression.
Excellent large & very comfy bed with quality linen in a very good-sized room. Good city centre location too, only 5 minutes walk to the heart of Harrogate.

United KingdomThe toilet seat in our room was not fixed properly when we arrived but it was sorted very promptly as was everything else we needed during the stay.
Room was ready when we arrived, the staff we met were very helpful, although in a quiet location, the walk into town was very easy and all the restaurants, shops and cafes we wanted to go to were very accessible

United KingdomWhen choosing where to stay- I was attracted to the fact that Double Tree Had a “Piano Room” in their description. I am a huge fan of Piano Music - so this attracted me to book Double Tree instead of an alternative. However I didnt hear any Piano music - and couldnt even find a Piano in any of the bars despite searching all rooms which were open. The only music was background recorded music.
Breakfast was ok and typical of this kind if Hotel. There was a very good selection on the Buffet- definitely something for everyone. All nice and hot

United KingdomThe pool arrangement for families is not ideal. Families with children have 4 hours of the day to use the facilities, but the other guests are still able to access the pool during that period. I feel that they should allow families only, as the other guests have a lot of other hours to use the facilities.

United Kingdom2nd time we've been, 1st time couldn't have asked more, but this time lots of things were different. No robes/slippers in the room (know it's a little thing but was provided last time) The receptionist wasn't helpful, but the other lady on reception serving other customers was amazing and went into detail about everything, how come we got the useless one who didn't care less??? For some reason the room was freezing The mattress in the room, not fit for the purpose. So uncomfortable, my girlfriend who's dealing with a bad back, got about 2 hours sleep over 2 nights Was surprised to check in and be told we didn't actually have a room allocated us and they had to find one for us And unfortunate that a function consiting of multiple drunken guests ate into our last night, complete with sprint races down our corridor and a rather lively argument that kicked off around 1am........ The first time we stayed, everything was perfect, but this time around, I can't fully explain it but it just wasn't the same.
The spa facilities are amazing. Food & drink (especially the breakfast were top notch.

United KingdomConsidering the hotel had its own private car park and they charge £15 per day is disgusting. Also as its a Spa Hotel you are not provided with robes to use at the spa. Unless you pay £10!!

United KingdomFredrick's piano bar doesn't have a piano. Was very disappointed. The name needs changing. The disabled toilet in room 350 was virtually inaccessible for my wheelchair the way it was laid out. I couldn't get on it. The hotel was incredibly hot. The heating was blaring and there was no way to control the temp in the rooms.
Lovely hotel set in a lovely location. Rooms were nice.

United KingdomI rang beforehand to advise I had an allergy to animals and couldn’t have feather pillows but they were still given. There were no slippers in the room so we had to ask for some. The bed was very hard which I struggled to sleep in.
It’s a beautiful old building in a great location. The room was nice, breakfast was lovely and the spa was great even though only small for such a large hotel
