At £250 for the night I would have expected water in the room and preferable cold. There was only what I would describe as medicines fridge. The bathroom was well finished but the toilet seat was very cheap. The general selection at breakfast was poor. The only available yoghurt was light and toffee flavoured. At the very least there should have been a plain yoghurt available. Also I would have expected a small selection of pastries of which there were none.

The position was lovely and the view was great, however, I feel we paid a substantial premium for it. The room was nicely decorated and generous. The coffee machine was appreciated. The eggs Benedict at breakfast was delicious.

Bit more choice at breakfast would be good ie pastries/more fruit choice. Was wakened up by music at back of 6 in morning. When went for breakfast realised that was the music I heard upstairs. Might be an idea for staff not to play music so early as it is an old building and soundproofing isn't so good between floors. Didn't spoil our stay but maybe something to consider?

Room overlooking the loch was great. Nice evening meal.

Booking.com did not send confirmation of my booking to the hotel. When I checked in, the manager said I hadn't booked, and he was full that night. I showed him my booking confirmation and my receipt for payment, which he acknowledged. He managed to find a room by rearranging other guests who had an unused room. This was a very poor experience from Booking.com.

Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Very hot day so it took a while to cool the room at night. Fan in room was very welcome.

Charming property on the lake. We had a large room that was recently renovated to a high standard. Made to order breakfast was very good. (Eggs benny and field mushrooms 👍)

Nice, atmospheric inn with large pub and comfortable rooms at a loch, but paid too much
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Double Room
    • Stayed 1 night

We would have been fully satisfied if the room had been averaged priced, but we paid GBP 200 for a double room (probably because it was a weekend in summer and booked 2 weeks in advance). For that amount of money we don't expect to have to take your luggage through a full pub, through a maze of stairs and hallways to your room, a shower that turns cold and breakfast at appointment where some of the staples are finished and very reluctantly refilled. As in most British hotels the room was too warm for us. When we opened the window we could not get it closed again.

Nice, atmospheric inn with large pub, outside seating and comfortable rooms at a scenic location next to a loch.

    All good 👍

The Village in is very nicely located directly at the Loch. Rooms are pretty, clean and well equipped. We had breakfast and dinner during our stay and both were really good. The staff is super friendly and also accommodate if you have food allergies. I would stay again!

Room was above kitchen vent so food smell in the room in the morning. Food in the restaurant was hit and miss, my wife's food was ok, I had a rare steak which came well done, when asked if food was OK I said no its over cooked. Responses was ill tell the chef but nothing happened. Wife left her handbag and we have messaged and called the hotel on the chance someone found it but no response.

Great location, friendly staff and good beer.

I didn't like the fact that the window to the room had been blocked out and only allowed light in but we couldn't see out.

We booked this room last minute and the only room they had left was a dog friendly room. I was a bit concerned it might have a doggy smell and was very pleased that it didn't. We had an enjoyable stay and a lovely breakfast, the staff were very friendly too.

    Nothing.

We have stayed at the Village Inn several times and are never disappointed. We arrived much later than expected around 10pm, and the staff were still smiling and still very helpful even after a long day. They were able to accommodate my request for a ground floor room. We stayed in one of the cottage apartments, which was lovely .

Dinner was mediocre- salty bought-in steak pie and over-cooked veg. Breakfast was also disappointing- fatty not crispy streaky bacon, and very greasy tattie scones! It certainly didn’t live up to the enthusiastic reviews!

The TV didn't work and when maintenance 'fixed' it, only two channels. The hot tap on the sink was lose so you had to hold it with one hand and turn it with the other to turn it on.

Good sized room, friendly staff, large en-suite with massive bath. Loch side so lovely views out front. Good cooked breakfast with vegetarian option including sausages.
