Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Location is very convenient near the town of Sitia and very quick access to the way to Vai and other popular beaches. Quiet neighbourhood, family friendly

We were scared when we find a very big yellow striped spider on our terrace sitting on the chair near the bedroom door. Maybe there should be warning not to keep any doors open because the mountain hill with all its plants and trees is so close. We found also 3 cockroaches, but when we asked for the problem, we got a good advise to shut doors. Then there was no bugs anymore, except little spiders and their webs as our apartment in the first floor wasn't cleaned very carefully. Also, when we came from airport with a little sleeping girl, there was no one there first. It was a suprise because we told when we are arriving. After a call to the number on the door, our host shouts from roof balcony, where we can find our key and apartment. The host was nice and friendly and I don't want to complain but I must tell.
Beautiful view and traditionally furnished "old greek style" big apartment. The surroundings with a quiet country road was lovely. Our little girl found so much wonderful things as we did walks to meet and greet friendly cats and see goats and hens living nearby. You must walk 15minutes to the centre of Sitia but it is a lovely main road by the sea and in 10minutes you find a very lovely cafeteria with breakfasts, smoothies etc. and a beach with umbrellas. And its only 5euro per trip to centre with the best place to swim for little children. Lovely Sitia, nice little hotel

We had a lot of mosquitos in the room even though we kept the door shut all the time. Kitchen could be a bit cleaner. The walk to the centre is about 15-20 minutes along the main road.
Big apartment with equipped kitchen, dining area, outside terrace with table and chairs. Could park on the street outside. All necessary facilities.

We are modest travelers & wouldn't & don't mind outdated accommodation. We arrived at the agreed time after spending the whole day in a car and knocked, yelled & rang, even bothered a nice lady who was a guest there, but got no answer. We returned after 2 hours and checked in in a way a man shouted from above balcony where to find a key. Hard to find a parking spot. There is a lovely cat around, spayed, clean, and really friendly. We bought some cat food for her in Sitia, but the host shouted her away!

Our place was in the ground floor and the terrace has view to the parked cars inofront of the property.
Cleanliness. Polite and discreet hosts. A quite place since this property accomodates short-staying or transit visitors.

Located by the sea, nice cosy place with all amenities, Pantelis the owner very friendly and helpful. Pets friendly place, we were very happy, and close to city centre, just a seaside walk away-highly recommended!

There is no sign on the main road to lead me to the place, so it was little hard to find.. however crete people were very nice to give me directions through their devices as I did not have any internet data to find the location..
The Appartement was clean and has all what I needed for my stay (kitchen stuff, clean towels, soap, shampoo, etc.) It has a balcony There is an archeological site, nearby The owner was very nice and available when needed as I forgot once the key inside and he came to open for me the door...
