Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanySome loose screws on the doorhandle for the terrace, EU power outlet and bathroom mirror. it was a long way to walk from the room to the main house :) All of that is complaining on the highest level, yet you expect „perfection“ from a 5-star hotel.
the room with a small outdoor area was amazing. super comfy bed and incredible bathroom (separate tub and shower). power outlet for EU plugs and UK, first time we‘ve seen that in a hotel. amazingly friendly and professional staff. the breakfast was fantastic.

United StatesWe really enjoyed Lough Eske Castle. We arrived late and had a pleasant dinner in the bar, where a musician was playing guitar. We had an amazing room, and enjoyed the wonderful breakfast. We loved walking the grounds and a wonderful carriage ride. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. A wonderful castle stay experience in Ireland.

New ZealandOur rooms weren't ready although we didn't get there till after 4 pm and 1 room wasn't able to be used so we were split up. The blinds in our room were broken & unable to open which left the room very dark. Staff were informed of this early on but not able to be remedied. Just took the shine off such a wonderful castle. But all in all wonderful stay.
Beautiful grounds and fabulous staff. Restaurant was also wonderful. Felt very well treated.

AustraliaI thought I’d asked for twin beds but it wasn’t an issue really, as the king was huge. We also got slightly wrong directions to the lake walk but we found it in the end
The gardens and grounds were beautiful, our room was spacious in a 400yr old stone stable. Bathroom was luxe. All the staff were so kind and the included breakfast was incredible with a la carte and buffet included. We also enjoyed a lovely spa massage and the jacuzzi area as well as the free pool,

United StatesOur room was not quite as nice as I was expecting. It seemed smaller, a little beat up in places, and did not have the view we were expecting. However it was a nice room and very comfortable.
The staff at reception and in the restaurants and pub were very friendly and always ready to help with our stay. The food was excellent. The breakfast the following morning was fantastic! The grounds and gardens around the castle are beautiful and well kept up. We enjoyed walking/cycling around the various trails and roads nearby. The public area inside the castle really does give one the feeling of being in a grand castle. Very well kept up, with wonderful paintings, furniture, photos in all the various rooms available to relax in.

IrelandLoved the castle and surrounding areas, lovely friendly staff very helpful, food was delicious rooms where very clean and tidy coffee machine in the room & fridge (empty) nice atmosphere in the bar (bar food was also lovely) bare in mind if you want to actually stay within the castle those suites need to be carefully booked as there are lots of extended wings/cottages & other rooms too outside of the castle building. Bathroom was very nice large shower, bath & separate sinks.

United KingdomThe downstairs Father Brown bar was a little colder compared with the more homely warm atmosphere in the other bar and the food took a little while to arrive, however the quality of the food was excellent. Food ordered at breakfast was very hot, the buffet breakfast extensive but if your preference is hot food on a hot plate, do order it.
Reception very professional and friendly and and a special word of thanks to Michael who brought us to the room, and upon hearing I wanted to go across to the pool and spa the next morning, returned back to the room within minutes with an umbrella given the forecast for rain. He also checked the level of heating in the room to ensure our comfort. The courtyard room was a great size and exceptionally clean, with excellent bathroom facilities with the toilet having its own door within the bathroom affording more privacy. Double bathroom sinks and ESPA and Ritual toiletries provided and ample towels. Good coffee and tea making facilities, double portions of biscuits, many accessible plugs for charging. Very comfortable large bed, seating and storage with robes and slippers. Very good and friendly service in the Father Brown bar and again lovely helpful staff at breakfast with ordered food arriving quickly and hot!!

United StatesConstruction of a huge wing that looks like a mid range hotel brings down the charm of the property. Our very large and luxurious garden room felt like it could be in any hotel anywhere in the world. Did not feel like staying in a castle.
