Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Couple of items, there needs to be more transparency for these items: - It is located in the 4th floor but there were no elevators - the stairwell and common areas are not well maintained - does not have adequate lighting in the stairwell and common areas in the night - No security guard in the property. Anyone has free access to the apartment. Inside the apartment there were cameras though.
Staff were very helpful and courteous. Connectivity. Overall upkeep of the room and cleanliness.

The room is on the 3rd Floor and the stairs are very steep.The most important lacuna was there is no lift so we cannot stay there with elderly person.
The room was big and comfortable.The ambience was good.

1. This homestay is located in a 3rd floor of the building and there is no lift. 2. The above facts are not mentioned in the property description. It was really hard to go up 3 floors to get to the room after a tiring day of travel. If a person with knee joint pains hires this room, it would have been impossible to get in to the room for him / her. 3. It was hard locating the place because there is no signboard to show where this building is located. After searching the place at the spot / in front of the building for 10 minutes, we had to call the property owner to figure out where the place it.
The room is spacious and comfortable, clean. Kitchenet with milk, coffee and tea powders along with electric kettle is available as described. the caretaker is also good and he cooks reasonably well, if requested at least a few hours before.

The air conditioning struggled to keep up with the Kolkata heat. There's no sign with the name of the place outside
First of all, I really appreciated the host’s attitude—he went above and beyond not only to ensure a comfortable stay, but also helped with things like resolving an issue with a taxi driver who didn’t have change and assisting with buying a SIM card. The location is convenient: about a 10-minute walk from the nearest metro station, yet tucked away from the noise of busy streets.

The main entrance of the building was a little confusing and it would have been better if there was a signboard at the entrance.
Very spacious apartment, big bathroom, clean linen & room, fast WiFi, had a dedicated work desk, great location, friendly host.

- cleaned and washed but not really clean - the neighborhood is dirty and poor - be ready for it (not dangerous or anything though) - my friends stayed in different hotels and homestays and all had better conditions for similar prices
- very welcoming and helpful host - a big room with an anteroom to the bathroom which was convenient - good location close to a metro station (and I preferred metro to uber in Kolkata due to heavy traffic and polluted air - and metro cars are clean and have strong AC)

The rooms are at 3rd floor and only stairs are available, and no lift; which is a negative point for this property

This is the best option for staying in Kolkata! Located in a quiet and peaceful area, there is a shopping center, many good cafes and even a metro station nearby. Despite the late check-in, we were welcomed warmly and personnel helped us with our stuff. Our room was very spacious and clean and we could feel at home in it. It has everything you need: kettle, air conditioning, minimum necessary utensils and fridge. We would especially like to mention our host Bhawani, who helped us on absolutely any issue during our stay here. After visiting Kolkata we had the most vivid impressions of both the city and the place of accommodation. If we were to live anywhere in Kolkata, it would be here. We will definitely come back again.

Nothing , I stayed for a Day So didnt had any major concerns or issues.
Hospitality By owner, I checked-in in too late but the Bhawani ( Owner ) understood and Assisted for my needs. Room was fantastic, with a dressing room, Bathroom is clean , Good View from Balcony. Up side is it is very near to Kalighat Temple , Transporation and metro are also were near if someone wants to explore it. Locality is silent and Peaceful.

There wasn't anything bad about it, but I thought it would be a nicer place if the room was cleaned a little more and there was a sofa in the room.
The location is particularly good in South Kolkata, and the rooms feel like secret bases.
