Kitchen could have been better in materials. Knives were shorthanded and kitchen knives for cutting anything was also not in supply.

The host was very nice and the breakfast each morning was perfect. The location is great and there are a lot of horses to look it. Some even went outside their pens, being all naughty and that. Shower was great, as were the other bathroom facilities.

Beautifully situated buildings in a quiet area overlooking the fields with horses. Charming cottages with a living area and kitchen downstairs and a bedroom on the mezzanine. The owner - Valeria is a nice person who will gladly help and advise what to see in the area, where to eat. Wonderful time

    A truly lovely haven

If I have to find anything, wall hooks would be handy in the living room for wet jackets, while a continuation of the small hedge or plants along the low wall dividing the two terraces (Fringuella is next door) would provide a little more privacy.

Driving through the huge iron gate into Trebisonda, wonderful mature trees and shrubs in parklike grounds, the 14th century farmhouse ahead, horses and their foals roaming the wide paddocks and the light golden – you know you’ve arrived in a special place. Valeria is a wonderful host (and yes, her breakfasts are, too!), always with a smile and excellent tips for the area. We loved the places she suggested, especially the tiny ancient village of Castellaro Lagusella. NB: during our visit the tower and private lake were only accessible at weekends. Another favourite was peaceful Sabbioneta. Grab the map from their tourist office in Via Teatro and explore! Take the side roads to fully appreciate the countryside and atmosphere of the Mincio Valley. And of course, Borghetto and dinner at Lo Stappo can’t be missed. Valeria organised the perfect table for us there, and we were pleasantly surprised to enjoy such an excellent meal & service in such a touristy destination. We stayed in cosy Upupa (hoopoe), with lovely views from the corner bedroom onto the paddocks and over the garden to the rear of the farmhouse. The loungers there were our favourite evening haunt. In late September we had no problems with mosquitoes, while the flies were only more noticeable in the direct vicinity of the horses. The morning movement of the few horses that spent the night in the stables rather than out in the paddock didn’t disturb us at all (our bedroom was over the stable), and it was even fun to hear them stamping, eager to get out. Trebisonda is an oasis of peace, within easy reach of Lake Garda and many small, historical villages, and with the most relaxed and warm hosts one could hope for. Thank you, Valeria & Enrico, for creating this lovely haven. Mairi & Gottfried
