Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustriaMy room was a female room. It didn't have curtains and the next-door room was a male room. The guys were looking inside our room. We had to improvise to hang a sheet on the balcony door.
Good location. Close to the bus station, groceries and restaurants. The lockers under the beds were very useful. Also the cable to hang the towels.

United KingdomThe bathroom facilities in a 12 mixed bed dorm is one bathroom that is tiny and shared one in the hallway, which both got abused after someone had used them leading to stepping over mysterious puddles that didnt drain properly and waiting for that bathroom at most points of the night.
The beds seemed pretty private and comfortable depending on where you are in the room air con seemed to work fine no problems and staff were amazing excellent communication and even held bags if you needed that as a option.

SwedenThe AC can’t be controlled from the room. Our room was freezing cold at night and we would’ve had to go down to the reception in the middle of the night to get it adjusted. There were also no real blankets, only really thin sheets, so we shivered our way through the night. The bathroom window couldn’t be closed properly, so a lot of noise from the streets reached our room throughout the night. The walls are also VERY thin. This wouldn’t be a problem if the other residents were quiet, but they very much were not. Screaming and banging on doors until late at night, and loud commotion from 05:30 in the morning. There was seemingly a group of people who left that early, but it sounded as though they were rearranging the entire room and DRAGGING their luggage across the floor right in front of our door. I have no idea how you can be so loud for so long. There are heavy doors leading to the shared bathroom and the hallway directly outside our room, and they close with a loud bang. This group walked in and out of those doors at least ten times without bothering to close them gently, thus waking us up every single time. There was also a city tax of 3€ per person which we weren’t informed of beforehand. The fact that other people were loud isn’t really the hostels fault (as I said, the staff was lovely) and maybe we were just unlucky, but overall, this was unfortunately by far the worst night of our whole trip. I would recommend fixing the bathroom window, putting extra blankets in the rooms and making it possible to control the AC from the rooms (or at least letting visitors know beforehand that you need to go down to the reception to get it fixed!). We stayed on the fourth floor, in room 407.
We had a nice room with private bathroom, towels, a TV, a small balcony and AC. The staff was friendly and the location great; near the train station, the city centre and the port. The hostel had a nice vibe, with charcoal drawings on the walls, sofas at the reception to relax and a café right next to it. It felt very welcoming and safe. Also, the city itself is lovely - we can very much recommend visiting Trieste!

ItalyThe beds dont have privacy curtains even though they do have a string to hang your own towel or drape. They charge for towels, locks, slippers and any other anemities (which I found it to be common in italian hostels) So bring your own. No common area. Just the entrance with a little sitting area which was always full of people check in or out.
Perfect location. Close to the train station and the ferries and most attractions. The staff was very helpful and polite. The bunkbed were sturdy and somewhat comfortable. Sockets and a light are provided for each bed. My room had an ensuite bathroom with shower.

GermanyUnfortunately the street is pretty noisy at night. Even though there wasn’t anyone check in before me, there were a ball of hair in the shower, the toilet lid full of soap or something and no hand-soap in the dispenser. Also no garbage in the bathroom which is quite uncomfortable in a dormitory while you are on your period. The luggage drawers were crazy loud so no quite sneaking into bed or out the room. The rooms could have been better maintained. Door handles, the walls a few single hooks. For that price they could do a little more.
The beds were clean and comfortable, also the room was a decent size. Coffee on the bar downstairs was perfect. And staff was nice

HungaryThe room smelt a bit off.
It's one of those 'friendly hostels' where it's pretty easy to find random other guests who'll grab food, drinks, etc. with you, if that's your thing.

CroatiaThis is a personal thing - having the AC blast full force all night directly at my legs is not ideal. And not all beds had privacy blinds (mine didn't).

ItalyThe price is too high for the quality of the service (120 € for a double room with twin beds, as I think there are no double beds available). The room and the bathroom were not very clean, for instance there were stains on the sheets and hair in the shower and on the sink. Be aware there is no bidet even if the bathroom is private. Also, the city is very loud so earplugs should be for free (0,5 €/ each pair) as we couldn't sleep without.
The double room with twin beds was nice, the beds very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful, a great plus!

FranceThere are some small improvements that would really add to the comfort. There were no curtains/blinds on the window so we asked for an extra sheet to make one. It would be great to have "bed curtains" for privacy also. There is a rail so it's possible to hang a towel for privacy but it would be more practical to have a proper curtain. The bathroom could really be improved. It needs more hooks/shelves/railings for clothes and cosmetics (clothes had to be left on the floor when showering). The door was extremely squeaky - this was a bit annoying in a room sharing situation. Also the sink was tiny and the positioning of the tap made it impossible to fill up water bottles.
I stayed in a 6 bed dorm. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was convenient to have a 24 hour reception. The location is ideal.

DenmarkNot s big thing but there were no curtains on the beds and only one light in the room. Would be nice with individual lights for the beds. The bathroom in my dorm had a shower that flooded the whole bathroom when using. So you had to use the bath in the hall. They should really get that fixed.
Good value for money in the centre of trieste very close to both train and bus station and minutes walk to the canal in the centre. Basic but clean and comfortable hostel with friendly staff. There’s no kitchen facilities but they do have a bar where you can buy coffee, food etc at reasonable prices.
