Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Everything was magical. The most peaceful and atmospheric scenery. great rooms, comfortable beds, very clean, incredible restaurant (food was delicious!). We were lucky enough to extend our stay here by 1x more day and so glad that we did. I cannot recommend enough, staying at the Hotel La Locanda Del Postino. Everything is perfect. With the most incredible sunsets every night, it felt like being in a film. Salina was our favourite Island, such a stunning place - which says a lot, as all of the Aeolian islands that we stayed on were gorgeous.

BelgiumThe hotel is owned and managed by a family and you feel at home from the very first moment. The attention to the details and friendliness from every staff member was exceptional. Our special thanks to the chef for the excellent dishes and creativity. Having a catch of the day as a dinner with the view of the sunset accompanied by Malvazia wine from Salina will stay in my heart forever. Hope to return soon!

SwedenDinner is slightly overpriced. Aperitif is dramatically overpriced. We had it the first day and we didn't know. Then we had it many other places and we had a point of comparison.
Staff very very good. Exceptional view. Perfect breakfast with hand made desserts prepared freshly every day Many thanks especially to the Hotel manager.

AustraliaI can't remember.
Francesco runs a beautiful hotel and the food was excellent too, cocktails over the sunset from the garden, friendly conversation with the staff and other guests. I was lucky to arrive at the time of the festival of the village Saint Onophreus. The night here was a highlight of Salina.

SpainThe views to catch the sunset from the hotel are the best ones in town, the place is very romantic, peaceful and beautifully designed. Super friendly staff, very welcoming and made us feel comfortable. The quality of the food made with local ingredients was delicious and the breakfast and dinner are totally worth it. Highly recommended place, one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily!!

FinlandStaying in this charming family owned hotel was definitely the highlight of my 3 weeks in Sicily! The family who run the hotel was really helpful and gave me good tips what to do on the island, they made me feel very comfortable, they even let me stay one extra night after closing the hotel. My room was really clean, nicely decorated and had a stunning seaview with views to Filicudi Alicudi. From the terazza you could enjoy the sunset every evening while sipping your aperitivo. Breakfast was great and filling. Pollara as a location is a really small place with not much services (I think my hotel was the only one operating there during my stay and it was closing as well for the winter). I was also travelling during the low season, so I don't how it is during the hight season. But I didn't really mind the lack of services because this kind of peaceful and authentic place away from tourist massed was something I was looking for. Also there was amazing restaurant at the hotel that was visited by people from other parts of the island as well, so I was not left hungry! Also there's minibus going quite frequently to other villages on the island where there are supermarket, some restaurants and farmacy etc. but renting a moped or a car would definitely give you more freedom. Famous and beautiful pollara beach is at 15 min walking distance. All in all I enjoyed a lot and left the place with wistful feelings. Grazie mille!

GermanyThe rooms are fairly small, and close to the other rooms. In itself not a problem, just the value-for-money ratio felt a bit stretched. Then again, the view was great. The village Pollara is tiny indeed. This means there are no shops, no cafes, nothing. We knew this beforehand, but underestimated a bit the consequences, i.e. having to take local buses to other villages. We were unfortunate that during our stay (in late September) temperatures were still extremely high which made day trips more difficult to plan.
We enjoyed a very pleasant stay at the Locanda. It is run by one family, and they were all very helpful and made the overall experience very personal. The breakfast and dinner were of exceptional quality, and having your dinner at sunset on the outdoor terrace with great views to neighboring island Filicudi was magical.

United StatesThis is not a criticism of the hotel, but something guests should be prepared for: one should arrange a means of transport while at the hotel--either scooters or a car. Pollara is quiet and secluded on the west side of the island (which is why its great), so one will need to travel to Malfa, Santa Marina Salina or Rinella for various activities, meals and errands.
La Locanda Del Postino is one of the best and my favorite hotel experiences––everyone in my family agrees. The hotel and its location are beautiful; the photos don't do it justice. The decor is simple but elegant; It's not over-designed. It's run by a family, all of whom are great and give it a sense of warmth and integrity. The staff, like them, are friendly and helpful; we enjoyed running into some of them at restaurants and beaches on Salina. The breakfast is outstanding with excellent, house-made cakes and other sweets, as well as a savory option each day. We also enjoyed cocktails and dinner at the hotel twice. This is truly a magical, special place.

United KingdomThe only thing I can think of is that the bed was a bit too firm and not the most comfortable for me (I am pregnant so I recognise this is obviously a personal preference/particular requirement!). Maybe some extra pillows and softer king size beds would be welcome though
The family who own the hotel and all the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a comfortable and pleasant stay. They made a special pear and ricotta cake for my husband's birthday (thier idea) and it was one of the best cakes we've ever had! I also accidentally left some items in our room after we'd left Salina for Stromboli and they went to the effort of putting the package on the next day's hydrofoil and ensuring the ferry staff got it to us safely. The hotel is beautiful and a nice relaxed vibe but don't expect modern luxury - the style is rustic and traditionally Sicilian, in keeping with the island setting. Aperitivos at sunset are a must and the restaurant food is good. Breakfast is also great with lots of cakes/biscuits/homemade jams etc and super friendly staff.

DenmarkThis locanda is a sublime experience; the location between mountains in beautiful natural surroundings, the delicious and freshly cooked dinner on the terrace overlooking the sea, the glooming sunsets and last, but most importantly, the hospitality of Francesco and his family. We enjoyed every day and will definitely come back.
